One of the best films of the 90s and certainly all-time. But...since it's from MGM, I'm going to wait and see how the reviews are before I purchase.

The Man Who Wasn't There is coming even sooner.

As much as I love the Coens I could never get into that one.

I love the film, own the DVD. I wanted to buy the Blu-ray, but have read many off putting reviews concerning the picture quality.

Look here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fargo-Blu-ray-Frances-McDormand/dp/B001U3EOIA/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1383332809&sr=1-2&keywords=fargo

Quotes:
'The disc was the worst transfer I have ever seen, the artefacts are awful, particularly in the snow scenes when "noise" is really visible.'

'The blu-ray transfer is very so-so. Most of the time, it's very grainy but the colours are enhanced.'

'Without doubt one of the best films ever made, and having watched it over 20 times i`m a good judge! but this blu-ray transfer is totally unaceptable, why bother, tranfering a print and doing such an awful job..'

'First - the Blu Ray print - I'd estimate that about 50% of the time, the picture is much, much better and the close-up shots in police cars in particular are beautifully clear. But unfortunately it's worse in other areas - there's a lot of blocking in the blizzard scenes, fuzziness indoors and the feeling of a low-budget Indie film is now accentuated rather than subdued...and although people will argue that's the nature of this independent movie, I'm not so sure it's such a good thing with the merciless exposure Blu Ray gives film stock.'

That's simply the French release, which was released last November:

Anything with Billy-Bob-Thorton doing narration is purchase worthy to me!

I thought it was a good character study..... but, to each their own!

Just saw this for the first time. Can anyone explain why she got the Oscar? I can't even see why she was even nominated in the first place. What was so special about her performance? And please do not say the accent.

If anything, Steve Buscemi was the star of this film. And don't get me wrong, the other performances, including McDormand were not bad by any means, I just don't understand this overwhelmingly positive praise the movie gets -- as being one of the best of all-time and giving an award to McDormand.

Here's Roger Ebert's take. If he can't explain it, maybe no one can. You just need to get the movie and everything else will fall into place.
