List of Fullscreen 16x9 Bluray Disc

feel free to add to the list.
Thanks crackinhedz for the headsup. Actually, i'm in direct communication with the maker of that list and it was my original list that inspired him to go make a program to filter through all the blurays with a specific aspect ratio. He's said that he wants his list to be listed in conjunction with mine. If anything, my list has been physically seen and confirmed as filling up a full widescreen display, whereas his has all the right specs, but specs have been wrong from imdb, amazon, and even bluray.com. But, again, good lookin out!

Thanks for the props. Too bad this isn't the ps3forums.com, they have "reps" and everything. I woulda liked to see how many people appreciated the list through something like that. In any case, thanks for the props, it's appreciated.

I'll be pretty busy for the next week or so due to personal reasons, so I might not be able to update as much as I should. Hopefully, Deciazulado will be on the ball if it should get out of hand as he has in the past. Thanks again Deciazulado!

Please, keep the suggestions, contributions, and posts coming! It helps and thanks for all the help!

Sorry I haven't updated or posted in a while. My computer is out of commission and is being sent out for repairs. Apparently not much has been happening on this thread anyways so I guess I haven't missed out.

I just wanted to say that I updated the list a little bit to take out Terminator and add "The Host" as those have been confirmed/denied by other people on my other post.

Also, I just wanted to say thanks to ruvic2007 for his great work at looking for titles with a specific aspect ratio to contribute here.

Again, I just want to ask if anyone can contribute to the list, please post up!

Thanks UTVOL06! I'll be sure to put it up there! Thanks for the contribution to the list!

Also, thank you to SS316SRV for confirming that Troy and Alexander are not fullscreen display blurays.

On another note, I was looking at tier systems for blurays and came across this one at highdefdigest:http://forums.highdefdigest.com/showthread.php?t=8749
I found it interesting that although the few of us prefer fullscreen 16x9 blurays, and we are all criticized and reprimanded for having such preferences, that of all the blurays on the Tier 0 and Tier 1 list, 11 out of the 27 blurays are 1.75-1.85:1 aspect ratios. That is 41% of the movies on the list is in an aspect ratio/display that the few of us prefer throughout all the hassle of enjoying such displays.
Now I know that there are other Tier systems for blurays going on, and this is not the original one. But I like this one because it bases the lists not simply on PQ and AQ, but takes into account directing intent, and actual suggestions from posters who feel a movie should be higher or lower. Which indicates that there are more of us who extra-enjoy fullscreen 16:9 blurays than previously shown...
Just thought it was a little interesting...

Of course, as always, like UTVOL06 and SS316SRV, please post up anything that would add/remove/contribute to the list in any way! Thank you!

Default Good 1.78:1 Movies

Does anyone know good BD's w/ an aspect ratio of 1.78:1? The only one I know off hand is Chicken Little, but it's such a kid movie. I'm trying to show off some movies that fill up the entire screen.

Thanks!!

awesome...although 1.85:1 ratio should have 21 lines of "black" on the top and the bottom

unless i'm doing the math wrong: (1080 - (1920/1.85)) / 2 = 21

well technically they should, however, any movie around 1.78 including 1.85 does fill the entire screen of a widescreen tv. the picture gets 'stretched' to fit, but really 1.78 is the same as 1.85 when it comes to viewing

Well there ya go that answers that. My tv is a widescreen as well so that explains why it was full screen on mine.

Actually 1.85 is 1038 x 1920. But many displays have overscan and that hides most of the thin bars on true 1.85 and 1.66 transfers.

Most movies composed for 1.85 expose the 1.37 full aperture area of the negative in the camera when shooting anyway, so when transfering to HD, they can just show an extra half of a millimeter of the negatve's vertical height to fill the 1.78 screen without having to crop anything from the sides.

That list on the OP needs updating... I may get 'round to it at some point if the OPoster doesn't do it soon. So many movies, so little time.

Bought "The Getaway" last weekend (original version) partly because it said 1:85, I already own the DVD. I was surprised to find the black bars when I watched it. Its the only 1:85 BD title that I own that does this.

I noticed that with 1.85:1 movies if I set my TV to 16:9 mode it fills up the screen. If I set it to "Just Scan" it shows the 21 lines of black on the top and bottom.
