No problem simplepinoi177, I'm just trying to contribute to the list of movies that you currently have.
My list was taken from the bluray.com site itself and I was inspired by my wife who prefers to watch blu-movies without the black bars. I created a small computer program that scans the site for all available movies and collected all of them in a database. This is how I filter and create the list so easily without doing it manually. The credibility of my list depends on the the accuracy of the bluray site itself. Here's where you can find my List of Full Screen Movies. Go Blu-Ray! Quote:

I would simply stop my list and just refer to yours, cuz I think yours might have more updated and concrete movies on there, but I like to also base the movies on my list with confirmation of others members. I've found out that although a movie might say an aspect ratio in their specs, often does it not come out filling up a whole widescreen display. But i'll be more than happy to collaborate with you and your list, and again thanks for your huge contribution... So, as I said, if anyone sifts through the new list of movies and finds out that it does or does not belong there, please post up and keep more movies coming! |

I agree entirely that we need to have confirmation before adding it to your master list. Mine is less accurate than yours and I have no intention of replacing your list.. Simply use my list as candidate movies to your list.
Cheers! Quote:

I cannot believe this!!! The black bars is precisely what drove me away from movies and exclusively onto tv series, and now I find that Weeds Season 2, a tv series, will still have those black bars???!!!??

You can add the following titles to the confirmed list. I've seen them in 16:9 fullscreen.

Here's another advantage of tv series over movies: no grain. So far, all the tv series on blu-ray I've watched have no grain, while soooo many of my blu-ray movies have grain (on top of those darn black bars). Go tv go!

I'm assuming "no grain" means no type of jaggies, but I'm most likely wrong so sorry for misunderstanding if I do. But what I have noticed is that certain tv's (even though they are 1080 native) still seem to come out with jaggies on them (my nephew's hdtv) even while running through HDMI. A simple suggestion might be that it's cuz the TV. The reason could probably be because TV series turned bluray are still shot in a different aspect ratio than the movies. That may be why...hope this helps any...

Ok listen I understand what you're saying with the "newbies will only buy these movies on the 1.78 list, so the list is bad" argument, but I think you're a little off the deep end. The aspect ratio is ONE OF MANY FACTORS, just like the audio track, PQ, etc, to balanace in considering whether to buy the movie. You may think the ratio is irrelevant, fine. But IMO and a lot of other peoples, the size of the movie (NOT your TV) significantly contributes to the experience, period. If some newbie will take this list to the bank and never look at 2.40 ratio BD's, that's their funeral for being ignorant. Aspect ratio should be weighed, along with other factors, and not on its own, in considering a BD purchase. |

no grain I think he refers the TV shows are probably transfered straight from the negative, from the Super-35 1.78 aperture |
