No, he added a pseudo-scientific explanation as to why people are sensitive to the Force in the prequels. The midis aren't the Force itself.

No, they don't. It's scientifically impossible for a giant space worm to exist. There's not enough sustenance in that asteroid. The worm wouldn't have its own atmosphere.

I don't know Battlestar Galactica, but no, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" with humans heavily implies fantasy. Even if it was a long time ago in a land far, far away, the wording is deeply fantasy.

Default Pirates of the Caribbean 4K

Am I the only person who thinks that it would be cool if Disney re-released all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films on not just blu-ray, but 4K as well?

Did you know that the first Pirates of the Caribbean film was originally based on a screenplay adaptation of the hit Lucasarts graphic adventure Monkey Island games? There are many similarities in the first two films, including ghost pirates, the seaside town with the governor's mansion, a voodoo lady, using a coffin as a boat, etc.

So, Star Wars is totally sci-fi, right?

I've wondered what Disney will do next after Star Wars on UHD BD. If they do anything else, that seems like a chance albeit still small IMO.

The fact so many people don't get this drives me insane.

Why? Their catalog is enormous. It seems like they don't mind to do new restorations for non digital films so I think a lot would be pleased to have the Signature Collection in 4K (I'm hoping that's the reason why they don't just rerelease The Jungle Book at the same day with the remake).

Do you think Lando and L3 ever made love?

...I’ve often wondered about that.

That's a question I do not want to think about at all..

...or ever again.

Now that's burned into my skull, thank you for that.

Science fiction. Fantasy. What does it matter as long as it’s not stupid?

I'm debating on this or just paying $20-30 for the pre-Disney boxset and buying the new 4K scans via digital when they're on sale.

I think most people get it.

The fact it's just a completely unnecessary explanation that nobody wanted is what people don't like.

They're free not to like it for whatever reasons but Velvs is right, people just think that the midis are the Force. They're not. So if people want to use that as an example of the science in the fiction then they'd better get their facts straight. The reason why it's there is to cover two plot points: how the Jedi test for latent Force ability and how Anakin was conceived. The first was only ever supposed to be a quick and easy plot device but people seized upon it and got completely the wrong idea about what Lucas was saying, which ultimately led him to dump any proper explanation for Anakin's conception.

The CG Clone Wars series got a lot of input from Lucas, if the prequels are the more 'matter of fact' explanation of the Force then CW is by far the more metaphysical, it's enriched my perception of the Force in a way that no SW movie has ever done.

The biggest "what if" that nags at me re: the sequel trilogy is how we know Lucas' version would have gone much more deeply metaphysical. The movies we got in the end did end up using many of his ideas - though of course remixed, filtered through the visions of other filmmakers and so on - but this is definitely one they almost entirely discarded. I think that would have truly set this trilogy apart, and contributed something to the greater saga.

However we feel about the sequels - love them, hate them or somewhere in between - they don't really say anything new, do they? Both the OT and PT contribute different things thematically to the saga, but I truly can't discern much of anything in the ST that wasn't already covered before by Lucas. Even more when you take The Clone Wars into consideration. For me personally, that's maybe the main thing that feels like it's "missing" without his involvement.

IMO the way I saw it was the OT was about bringing someone from the dark side, the dark side is no good and one should fight it's temptations. The PT is about Anakin who fully embraces the dark side. And the SQ would have about the balance, there's no dark without light and there is no light without dark. One should not embrace the dark side or ignore it completely. At least that's what I believe TLJ was about, and what should have been explored in TRoS.

Isn't it true that the only prequel that can have a legitimate 4K scan is The Phantom Menace? Regardless, I'm pre-ordering this set because I really love Rise of Skywalker.
