Defective glow-in-the-dark decals on Blu-ray slipcovers. Blame it on Covid.

I think if we stick these in protective covers they should be OK (and don't touch the air pockets ). The bigger problem, I think, is the super tight fit. This reminds me of the tagline for Blood Beach: Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water - you can't get to it. What good is a Blu-ray disc if you can't get the slipcover off

Can you really not get the slipcover off?

I got it off after several attempts. The problem is the case is thicker than the standard ones they use. I had to swap cases to get the slip back on.

Whatever you youngsters call it these days, knock it off!

Re slipcover mine has very minor peeling (1mm) on spots on the bottom edge and bottom corners. Concern would be if it continued to peel more.

I don't think protective covers would help. If one of the air pockets burst (for lack of a better word), just by me grazing it, I would think having them touch or come in contact with a protective cover could cause more of them to rupture.

This is General Tom, there is an issue with the new Magdalena slipcover. The special glow paint is peeling mostly on the lower edges of the slip. Dark Force officials are currently working on this problem and we will go live later today to address how we are going to handle it. The Dark Force Superstore has been temporarily closed and all Magdalena orders not yet shipped are being held pending further notification. All club member shipments and pre-orders through #12233 are currently in the mail. Tune into the Dark Force Facebook page for a live special news report later today for further information on this tragic event regarding the custom slipcover for the new release MAGDALENA POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL.

I wonder if there were multiple cases used, I had no issues getting mine off or putting it back on. I just tried again, it wasn't tight like some recent Severin slips have been.

While it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone's copy, I will say that my slip is also incredibly hard to get on and off. Very much on par with some of Severin's more difficult to remove slips.

Agreed. I would have never known there was a problem based on my experience. My slip slides on and off the same as every other Non Severin slip and I didn't notice any blemishes or peeling myself either. And since we're on the topic... what the hell is up with Severin's slips. They've been creating those too small/tight slip covers for years now, how have they not grasped that perhaps they need to slightly increase the size on them? For as much shit as Dark Forces, Code Red, and others get sometime that company over their just never seems to bother at all with many of there problems.

No kidding. Severin's recent Nosferatu in Venice Slipcover was the hardest Slip I've ever tried to get off a case... near impossible. It was literally glued on, I had to crimp the ends with my fingers to finally get it pulled off. I thought I'd almost have to use a pair of pliers! Severin's Slips are usually always tight as hell, but that one was just ridiculous to remove.

Yeah, the biggest news is that Code Red is considering a 4k release with Kino. Messiah of Evil was talked about but it sounded like the first title wasn't fully decided yet. Bill hopes we'll buy it.

Messiah of Evil is about the only Code Red title I can imagine re-buying in 4K. Almost none of his other good releases were of films that seem like they'd see a lot of benefit from the upgrade. Maybe Just Before Dawn and Mountain of the Cannibal God, too?
