I don't think it's pointless, its a 2300 glimmer speeder for free. Not counting the 4-500 glimmer from the chests as well as the random loots.

Game seems quite lean on the loot drops, I'll take anything I can get. Hope they bump it up, an hour of farming I got 2 random white drops and one uncommon engram. A little too lean IMO.

Does the size of your party affect drops, like in Borderlands, where the rarest drops are pretty much only accessible to full parties?

I think it does because I've been playing with my friends a lot and yesterday I played by myself for the first time and it was loot galore. Enemies were dropping something almost every time.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners are joining in on 7/23 (not on the same servers, obviously). Hopefully we get more features to test, but I've honestly enjoyed the hell out of the time I've played Destiny's beta, and I'll definitely be buying the full game.

The drops aren't on the Borderlands level, but I'm fine with that. In Borderlands I found myself stopping too many times in a group to compare every new weapon I got or to trade weapons with my partner. My only frustration is that I found most of the chests around the map and only got glimmer or white loot every time. Looted dozens of chests.

Those pre-order bonuses look a little sucky. The advantage will only last for level <8. Then its business as usual.

Yes level 8 is max, all you can do now is collect.

Tip to those who are going to work on a second character. Put your best weapons from your maxed out character into your vault then you can use them with your new level 1 character. On the flip side, with your new character don't decode the engrams you find, put them into your vault and then retrieve and decode with your maxed out character as your maxed out character will get better decoded items which you can then put into the vault to use with the other guy.

And if you keep using your main guardian, when you level 3, you get a bonus from him... it will be at the post master, but it won't show up until you go to orbit. The stuff I got was mostly too high a class, but I did get a rare cloak to use. When you hit level 4, you get this:

Also, with higher weapons, you'll need money, weapon parts, and other stuff to upgrade it, as seen in the pic:


And yes that is in the vanguard armory, so day 1 DOCTOR NOPE shall be mine!

Pro tip, if you plan on doing any public events, carry a launcher and 1-2 ammo packs. When the drop ships come in, aim under them where the enemies deploy, wait for the arms to come down, then fire, it will take out all red health bar guys and weaken the gold/yellow health bar guys. By the time you reload, you can hit the survivors on the ground again, before they scatter and come at you.

This does not work on the spider tank, just aim for the yellow parts on the legs or when it opens and the launcher does the second highest damage to it, right behind the GOZEN-C sniper, with 62 void damage.

It's an FPS. Commonality with RPG rests in the skill trees that are not really trees rather than skill progression meters. Without making moral/ethical choices that influence how NPC's and other players interact with you there is no role playing, in the traditional sense of the genre. Bungie calls it an "action" game on their site.

Redefines the genre? Please. It's a Halo reskin that shares a LOT with Borderlands (and from way back, Phantasy Star Online).
