I went to Best Buy to pick up the basic 1 disc Blu Ray because that's all I want. I get there, and see that it has no slipcover at all. I'm a huge slipcover junkie, so I broke down and got the 3D copy instead. It was only a mere $2 more, unlike the Iron Man 3 3D which was sooooo much more than the standard copy.

As a nit pick, why does Disney not pack DVD's all the time now with their releases? It's so inconsistent. Iron Man 3 did, but stuff like Oz 3D and this do not have them. I don't do Blu Ray 3D but sometimes like a DVD to pop in my computer or for whatever reason.

I also wanted to say that I got Iron Man 3 (blu/dvd/digital) edition a few months ago for $25 when Best Buy had it for 32.99. I showed the lady the amazon price for the iron man 3 blu rays on my phone, and on accident she gave me the price for the standard blu/dvd copy! So I got the more expensive copy for only $24.99, pretty cool.

I haven't watched Dark World yet but am excited too. I watched the All Hail the King short though and enjoyed it, even though I don't find Trevor Slattery to be that great a character when I know a real Mandarin is out there elsewhere. And as for the cameo at the end, oh boy. It happened to be a character I hate.

Is the commentary track only on the 2 disc 3d one and not on the single?
I only saw it listed on the back of the 2 disc.
Thanks!

It's better to just get the 3D version for $22. Just $2 more and you get the digital copy, better case and slipcover and a 3D disc even though I don't need it. It just feels like you get your moneys worth compared to the 2D version.

Just watch after release week when it balloons to over $30 and more people will be complaining about the 2D version

Thor vs Malekith was just them rolling around the majority of the time. Wasted opportunity right there.
I have to agree with you for the most part. I thought while the action scenes were funner and more frequent than in the first film, they made Thor himself as well as every Asgardian in general look like wussies in Thor 2. They're supposed to be like gods and yet a small army of elves could kick their ass...on their home turf!? And the fight at the end between Thor and Super-Malekith was pathetic. I 'm starting to hate how Thor seems to solve all of his problems with that damn hammer, it's just a cheap-shot at this point.
[Show spoiler]And don't even get me started on how dumb Thor must be to think Loki is actually dead. Has he learned nothing?

Picked up the regular 3D version, very cheap and had a slip. I sure as hell hope Disney doesn't do this with The Winter Soldier or Guardians Of The Galaxy

Anyone who bought the 3D version who would be willing to give me their Action Code, please PM me! - I am trying to save up my Disney Movie Reward points for something. Also if you have one from Iron Man 3 (2D or 3D) I would happily collect those too. Thanks!

Does anyone know if the supervillain's foreign language will be player generated or mostly burned in?

Biggest blame was the outrageous price tag, followed by a coverart that didn't look too appealing on ads (the slip had a nice feel, but can't really imply that in an ad).

With Thor 2, they went in the complete opposite way. The 3d copy looked attractive, had a digital copy when regular release did not, and was only a few bucks more. Unlike Iron Man 3, the regular release was reasonably priced as well at $19.99 at most places, so a few more bucks wasn't too bad for 3d and digital.

Amazon is out of stock, which if THEY are, means they sold a ton of them. Forget about the steelbooks, all the best buys in my area are sold out of the regular 3d release. Same with Walmart. And forget about Target, they didn't even receive their shipment in.

Either Disney didn't produce enough copies, or the retailers didn't order enough.
yeah, the Targets, Best Buys and Walmarts around here are out of the regular 3d copies, never mind the exclusives. Hope they restock soon

The subtitles on their scenes are player generated.

The special features are on the 2D disc in both the combo pack and single disc release. Unless the review for the 1 disc release is incorrect.

I sold the Loki slip, decided to hang onto the standard slip and steelbook.

Watched it last night for the first time and loved it! Much better than the first one which I felt seemed really small scale for this type of movie, this one on the other hand was epic! Thor and Loki are quickly becoming some of my favorite Marvel characters, can't wait for another. 8.5/10

Also can any comic fan fill me in on the 1st after credit scene with
[Show spoiler]The Collector
? I did a quick lookup on imdb on who he is, but I'd like to know what connection (if any) he has to Thor?

[Show spoiler]Not much, just an introduction to Guardians of The Galaxy, oh and they are making the tesseract an infinity gem, another connection to the Avengers film and Thanos, character at the end of the credit scene.

Do they look like player generated subs? or do they have the unique burned in look?

I remember Star Trek into Darkness the klingons subs are done like they are burned in, but they are actually player generated.

So I had to look and see how this was moving locally today. Target had 18 Loki slips (so if anyone wants one, PM me. They are $26,49 after tax, plus shipping, plus a buck for my time). They also had one Elysium steelbook and one Walking Dead S3 steelbook still around.

This was the scene at Best Buy:

BB did have a cardboard standee with a few copies of the single disc BD (and plenty more dvds), but not one 3D version of any kind was there.

Disappointed in the 3D in this. Just way too much dark scenes. Will have to watch again in 2D this time.
