I just happened to luck out. I was doing a curbside grocery pickup after work and decided to swing by Diabolik for a second while I was waiting. There it was. I felt bad because I was totally ignoring the kid who brought out my stuff while I was placing the order. I tipped him well, though.

I think Diabolik was the only one to get any. I was there immediately on Orbit to get Tunnel from Umbrella, and nada - same for Grindhouse. They should look into partner slipcover reprints for the media club.

I managed to snatch one up, too, yesterday.

I have been visiting DiabolikDVD several times daily and searching for it for the last week, since Jesse mentioned that he would get a stack in some time soon.

I wonder how many Jesse had available?

From what I gather from a post in the VS group on FB, they went up for sale about half an hour before I stumbled upon them.

There was nine available when I put mine in the basket, and only five when I had finished check out. I did sent a message to a friend that he should check it out, but five minutes after, when he saw it, they were all gone.

I feel pretty damned lucky that I just happened to check at that time. I might as well have checked an hour later, and they would all have been sold.

I even had a small hiccup during check out, because my bank suddenly decided to block my card, as they had a suspicion someone else was trying to use it. It is something they do occasionally, and I haven't used that particular card at DiabolikDVD before, so I figure that is why. Luckily, I was able to remove the block myself through the bank's mobile app, though I did get a bit sweaty seeing the numbers in stock dwindle while I was doing it.

Totally missed out on the Bleeding Skull release though. 1000 slips just isn't enough and it creates instant FOMO, as the first sale puts it in "countdown".
Yeah the limiting to 1000 copies when the previous AFGA releases had at least 3k is pretty crappy; whoever is making the decision is clearly wanting to generate FOMO.

A member of VS actuallty clarified why they do it for me, it does make sense. Tons of titles sitting forever even when on sale, they drop the numbers and suddently they have instant sell outs. They don't want overstock sitting for years, and I totally get that from a business perspective, look at the titles even when discounted to 9.99 sat for ages.

Surely there is a middle ground somewhere? If 1,000 copies of the limited editions sell out within hours to a couple of days at most, and 3,000 copies sit around for ages, then maybe do 1,500 or 2,000?

I know plenty of people who missed out on the very limited editions of Hey Folks! It's The Intermission Time Video Party or The Violent Years, who are now waiting to pick the standards up cheap in a sale one day. Had I not managed to pick up the former from DiabolikDVD, I would have done the same with that one.

If I may be so bold, maybe it's on VS to pick movies to release that won't sit forever haha.

(Although some of the sales stuff is surprising, like Argento's Trauma sitting around forever with slip as an example)

I think that's tough in itself. AGFA is a perfect example, some people absolutely HATE SOV/LoFi movies. Some AGFA titles have flown, while others have sat forever. And VS doesn't choose the films if I recall, the sublabels do.

I do get what you're saying, but who thought the Bleeding Skull releases would sell out in a couple hours, or that The Last Slumber Party would go in a few days. I think it's harder than we think.

Trauma had a LE pressing of 10K units. That is much higher than their average release.

That and it's a low tier Argento.

I mean, it’s exactly what it says it is. A compilation of vintage snipes, regional ads and general theater/drive-in ephemera so if you’re even the slightest bit nostalgic for that kind of thing then it’s the perfect comfort disc. Kind of like chicken soup for the cinematic soul.

Default Hey Folks! It's the Intermission Time Video Party!

I know this sold out on Vinegar Syndrome almost as soon as it was announced. I pre-ordered on Amazon on 5/24, but the street day has already passed and it's currently listed as "Temporarily out of stock. We are working hard to be back in stock as soon as possible." I haven't been in a situation like this before. Does it seem likely Amazon will eventually be able to fulfill my order, or will it just be canceled on me? Does anyone on the site have any insight on this release?

The standard edition of this Blu-ray (without the slipcover) is not a rare, OOP title. It's only the slipcover edition that is sold out. To the best of my knowledge, Amazon never gets the slipcover editions, anyway.

I wouldn't anticipate any problems with Amazon getting a supply of this disc in stock.

I just noticed that several websites are showing it on Back Order. It looks like one of those situations where initial stock at these online retailers was already spoken for, with some of them showing it being back in stock next month. It may take a little longer to get it, but with nearly 1000 copies still available at VS, this thing will be around for a little while. So I wouldn't worry.

As Chriszilla mentioned the SE is available. On the VS site they currently have 836 copies.

I could have sworn I checked the VS site and saw that the slipcover and standard versions were sold out, but that's clearly not the case—my mistake. Thanks for the responses!
