I’m incredibly happy with all 6 of the volumes and had no trouble preordering any of them. I always understood that I was contributing in hopes of getting all of the films restored. CF has been very active in the forum and indicated multiple times that there would be a complete set offered after all volumes were released. Zero surprises with their rollout. I can’t wait for the silents set, none of which I’ve ever seen.

The current Bonus disc that you can buy (to go with your six volumes) is going to have a small taste of the silent films. I believe they are putting one or two on there as a preview of what is coming.

Default Our gang restorations on tcm today

Our Gang restorations on TCM today!

We're in the middle of a project to scan, restore and release on Blu-ray and DVD as many of the 88 Our Gang (Little Rascal) silent film shorts which survive. We've have completed three restorations of the silents which will be included as bonus features in our upcoming The Little Rascals - The Complete Collection (Centennial Edition).

Today, however, is National Silent Movie Day and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is celebrating by playing 24 hours of silent films. Included in the lineup are 2 of the 3 Our Gang silent films we've restored: The Big Show and Dogs of War! (both 1923). If you have TCM get on over and preview our restorations. You can also see a clip of The Big Show below.

Oh wow, ClassicFlix, I have just seen your Hopalong Cassidy raw scan video. I am super stoked about that.

Would you have any interest in the Paramount (now PD) series of Bulldog Drummond with both Ray Milland then John Howard in the role?

Not likely, but we wouldn't rule it out.

We posted our first "Newsletter" today.

We still plan to post individual announcements for releases, etc., but we get a lot of questions regarding all things related to our label so we decided to start a newsletter to be posted on a regular basis. We plan to inform on all things happening at ClassicFlix, including upcoming releases and projects, frequent catalog questions, sneak peaks and exclusive clips, and much more.

Today's post discusses the Our Gang silents project, and a newly announced Hopalong Cassidy Project as well as other items of note. We also have a few new video clips of interest.

I'm definitely looking forward to the Hopalong Cassidy series. I've contemplated picking up the DVD set in the past, but I'm glad now that I held off.

Here he comes, here he comes
Blare the trumpets, bang the drums, here he comes.

Hopalong Cassidy, here he comes.......... on blu-ray!

I’m grateful for the ClassicFlix newsletter. First off, thanks for the update/acknowledgment about the Blondie film series. Hopefully King Features realizes that giving you access and release rights could be of value to them.

Also thanks for bringing Hoppy, Lucky and California to Blu-ray. Looking forward to your first rate releases.

I have Image Entertainment's double-feature restorations of the
the Hop-a-long Cassidy films up to 1937. The transfers are very
good, much better than the public domain label editions. Image
didn't restore Eagle's Brood however so it's great you're working
on that one. There were 8 double-feature sets, here are two:

I'll sell them on ebay now that I know you're restoring the films
for blu-ray. As an aside, William Boyd's casting as Cassidy is a
little odd, to say the least, although audiences loved him. Cassidy
is a rougher tougher young cowboy in the original novels, which
began in 1906:

Hop-a-long Cassidy novels by Clarence E. Mulford/

David, I wish you could put together a collection of William S. Hart's
silent westerns. He was a serious storyteller who made high-quality
films. Many 35mm materials survive in excellent shape, both the
shorter films and the longer ones.

Tom Mix's silent westerns have never been restored or collected into
a set, either. He was an amazing acrobat on a horse and a fine actor.
There is the silent phase and the talkie phase at Universal. The latter
resulted in at least one masterwork, The Rider of Death Valley (1934).
If you can restore only one Tom Mix film let it be this one:

Some of the old Hoppy SD transfers do look very good considering the time in which they were scanned/restored. Ours will, of course, look far superior in HD.

The only exception might be THE EAGLE'S BROOD as the only 35mm reel which survives is reel 4 and Image may have had material to work with which is no longer extant.

We do have 16mm on BROOD, but it is a big drop off from the extremely sharp and clean 35mm of reel 4.

Noted on your other requests. We'll see what the future holds.

Image did not restore THE EAGLE'S BROOD. They passed on it.

Right now THE EAGLE'S BROOD looks like garbage in cheap public-domain
DVD sets. If you can restore it from 16mm elements and one 35mm reel it
will be far superior than what's currently available. Just please don't omit it.

My misunderstanding.

For reference, we do have the current SD copy of BROOD and it is very rough looking.

We're not passing up on anything. We hope to have 35mm material on 95% of the 66 features, and intend to release all 66 in HD, even if only 16mm exists.

We've been informed by the rights holder that 35mm should survive on the other 63 features (as we've already inspected and scanned material on the first 3).

This is great news.
Hopalong fans will be pleased.
My interest is in just the 1930s films.

Default Fast Freight (1929)

Our scanning and restoring of Our Gang silent shorts continues.

Below is a clip from the "haunted house" short Fast Freight (1929). While the intertitles were cut (which we'll restore), it's in relatively good condition and is very sharp.

ENJOY!
