This new 4K title is going to give us some 3D sequences without taking any pills or wearing sunglasses.
It's the beginning of 3D glassses-free experience. ...Bullet-proof slow-mo, multiple 360 degree cameras. Yes? ...Or no? ...Blue or red? ...For 3D, both. ____ I like this quote from Bill: "And when the film’s pulsing electronic soundtrack kicks in, it’s as if you’re listening to an SACD." ____ And that's nice of Warner to have remastered the regular Blu too. Now that's how all those 4K packages from older titles should be done, and Atmos on both versions. Give us some real meat to grind our teeth, to chew on. Day one purchase, irregardless of $ Last edited by LordoftheRings; 05-13-2018 at 06:07 PM. |

I know they are just pics of a tv but I'm seeing a lot of green in there. Neo and Smith's white shirts are blanketed green and Morpheus's skin is green too! Just like the revisionist Blu. As stated before this type of color timing wasn't possible before the invention of a digital intermediate. You can't make skintones green since skin doesn't have green in it unless someone is seriously sick! Looks like the makers retimed this new scan to look like the sequels like they did for the last one.

And it's not an excuse. The authors said it themselves: they used color gels to adjust color. |

RU.08's words
"the sequels had DIs and were digitally regraded to green - the original was not. That’s two very different methods. They may well have intended all the Matrix scenes to look green, but there is only so much you can do with on-set lighting, especially as many Matrix scenes occur outdoors." Bates Motel also brought up a good point in the 2001 thread even the original poster and title were blue not green yet when the revisionist DVD and Blu-ray came out the covers and titles were green. |

First of all, they intended the matrix scenes to look green. This isn't up for debate. Means green should be there. End of story. So making the matrix scenes look green isn't revisionist by any measure.
Secondly, color gels are used not only for lighting setup. But for color correction too. So the argument that outdoors scenes can't have blanket green tint is nonsense. |

And another point - BD of The Matrix isn't perfect and colors aren't accurate. How The Matrix is supposed to look will be seen when UHD arrives. That being said, addition of green to the matrix scenes ISN'T revisionism. Last edited by OutOfBoose; 05-13-2018 at 07:04 PM. |

I love how punchy HDR appears to be. Production design and cinematography will benefit from it a lot. I hope the transfer doesn't hold any bad surprises. |
