Since the Wachowskis and Bill Pope felt the Matrix should be green even when they filmed it, nothing has changed and it's good. Psyched to see how it looks.

it was hard to read those comments under that 4k teaser in facebook... ppl think old movies cant look better because they are old

and 4k bluray is bullshit because of it.

And that's nice of Warner to have remastered the regular Blu too. Now that's how all those 4K packages from older titles should be done, and Atmos on both versions.

I know they are just pics of a tv but I'm seeing a lot of green in there. Neo and Smith's white shirts are blanketed green and Morpheus's skin is green too! Just like the revisionist Blu. As stated before this type of color timing wasn't possible before the invention of a digital intermediate. You can't make skintones green since skin doesn't have green in it unless someone is seriously sick! Looks like the makers retimed this new scan to look like the sequels like they did for the last one.

And it's not an excuse. The authors said it themselves: they used color gels to adjust color.

Bates Motel also brought up a good point in the 2001 thread even the original poster and title were blue not green yet when the revisionist DVD and Blu-ray came out the covers and titles were green.

Secondly, color gels are used not only for lighting setup. But for color correction too. So the argument that outdoors scenes can't have blanket green tint is nonsense.

That makes no sense since color gels are something you put on lights have nothing to do with color correction. Read up on Original Trilogy and fanres.

It can be placed in front of a camera too. I don't know if that's the technique they used, but it can be done for sure.

And another point - BD of The Matrix isn't perfect and colors aren't accurate. How The Matrix is supposed to look will be seen when UHD arrives. That being said, addition of green to the matrix scenes ISN'T revisionism.

Who's word? Last I heard, only select parts of 2 were DI'd.

Hunt's camera is really choking to show it's actual resolution and refined grain. It's obvious.

I love how punchy HDR appears to be. Production design and cinematography will benefit from it a lot. I hope the transfer doesn't hold any bad surprises.
