I had it in front of that too. I thought that was weird. Then I saw Wish Upon and the only horror trailer was for Happy Death Day.

"It 2" (as it's seemingly titled at the moment) apparently WILL begin filming next year:

Apparently this is the song that plays during the apocalyptic rockfight.

Finally some real confirmation! This makes me even more excited to see the first part, and I'm already frothing at the mouth for It! Less than 100 pages left to go in the book too.

So part 2 would feature even further flashbacks with the kids?

I agree. Everything about The Dark Tower begged for an HBO-esque multi-season miniseries like Game of Thrones or The Wire. Not a PG-13 Idris-Elba-with-another-needless-American-accent fantasy movie. I read four of the books in the series, and it seems to me like the film is going for a "greatest hits" compendium of plot points without all the adult content. At the very least, let Elba use his native English accent.

And why exactly you would want to aim a film adaptation of a book series meant for adults at kids is just mind-boggling, anyway. At least It is definitely getting that bit right out of the gate.

Good choice. Scott Ian is a big Stephen King fan, and the song was on Anthrax's 1988 album "State of Euphoria," and the movie takes place in '89 or thereabouts.

I hope they end up calling the movie, It: Part 2. It 2 sounds a little too "shakespearean". "It 2, pennywise"?

Wish I could see the Happy Death Day trailer in theatres. I finally saw the It trailer for the first time in theatres in front of Wish Upon. Same with the Polaroid trailer.

I've only seen the trailer for It in front of The House (because raunchy comedies and horror adaptions go for the same audience of course) and no other movies so far.

I agree. "It 2" makes it sound like just another horror sequel, and not the continuation of the book that it actually is. Ever since I first saw the official logo, I've wished that they had decided to go ahead and title this first film "It: Part 1," as it makes me worry that audiences that don't know any better (younger audiences in particular, and those who haven't read the book nor seen the original miniseries) will see this first part and its ending and think, "That's it?" That is, of course, unless this film changes how their first confrontation with It/Pennywise in the sewer goes, and makes it more dramatic, thereby giving it more of a fulfilling ending rather than an open one.

Also, for those interested, Joe Hill (Stephen King's son) just said that he's seen a screening of the film, and that he thinks it's in the top 5 of the scariest films ever. I mean, it's King's son, ya gotta take that with a grain of salt, but still.. damn:

How about, It: Chapter 2

Or would that be too similar to the Insidious franchise?

Oh God. HBO and The Dark Tower. Was there ever a match more made in heaven? Alas we has a 95 minute PG bastardized version that will bomb. Sorry, to keep on thread, great posters!

High-resolution version of the Comic-Con poster (without the rating, oddly enough, which is surprisingly disappointing):

I'd bet on sequel title being "IT: (however many) Years Later." For when they are grown up.
