You will believe a man can buy -- (the same movie five times on different formats).

The 4K/UHD version is, not surprisingly, the best of them all. Everyone who has realistic expectations for this title will be thrilled. Grain aplenty, no effort by WB to make it look squeaky clean. That said, there are several shots that feel like they could have been filmed yesterday (Superman and Lois on the rooftop after the helicopter rescue is one of many examples).

Detail improvement is, in many cases, substantial. Consider the wide shot of the Kent farm as Clark and his dad walk towards the house -- gravel, grass, hay bales, roof tiles all benefiting from 4K resolution.

Color is tremendous. The Krypton sun blazes with rich shades of red. The blue-push on the Kryptonian landscape we've been subjected to on home video for decades has finally been rectified. The neon-green of Lex Luthor's swimming pool now more restrained.

The best superhero movie of all time now has its best release ever. WB has treated us to an exceptional year in high-quality catalog 4K. Can't wait to see what they have in store for 2019!

From what's been told in this thread the Blu-ray is the old version and not remastered.

Been trying to follow the thread, and didn’t see that someone confirmed it for sure. Can you please point me toward the post where it was confined?

If Supes' HDR10 layer had been mapped to 1000 nits then the DV enhancement layer would contain the remainder that lives in the >1000 nit region, though I can't imagine that the 3938 nit MaxCLL figure is for a constant part of the movie, just the very brightest speculars in one moment or another.
I have a Panny UB820 which, with its HDR Optimizer can tone map HDR10 down to 1000 nits for OLED sets. When I get my copy of Superman, I'm going to be very interested to see what impact the Optimizer has, if any and how it compares to the DV version.

Don't feel bad or left out because, you're missing anything spectacular! I have DV on my OLED, along with the Oppo 203 and to be honest, DV looks good, but It's not all that as people claimed it to be. To me, DV is over praised. When I've first seen DV, I wasn't that impressed by it. It didn't give me the WOW factor, compared to HDR. HDR still look very good, but the difference between DV and HDR isn't night and day. Whenever you get DV equipped, you may not be able to tell that big of a difference. Never mind about the technical specification of DV because numbers doesn't mean nothing! it's all based on what the person can see with their own eyes, the same as for Dolby and DTS comparisons, it's all based on what a person can hear. People have an tendency to overexaggerate to make things seems better than it really is but IMO, it's the same way with DV. Whether if it's DV, HDR, HDR-10 etc, it's still 4K.

I've just got it it's the 2hour 23 minutes version with a new atmos track. It looks nice for a 40 year old film. Just ripped it to my HDD for usb playback to.

Still, if people can't see the differences here https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...124646&i=1&l=0 then I suggest booking an appointment at your optician's at your earliest convenience.

And I did have a hunch that the regular BD wasn't gonna be redone, I know it was definitive proof of anything but the signs were there:

I can definitely see the improved clarity but my question was more about the contrast. In the first image of Jor El his white suit doesn't have any glow to it, no punch. Does it look this flat on an actual TV or is it just the Cap showing it that way?

Have they taken away all highlights from the master so the player/TV will do the work?

The caps all look flat compared to the Bd. Look at the shot of the army in the road.
