The market for Disc is gone, I use to be able to sell Recent Releases for a few bucks less than new. Even UHD 4K Discs don't resell for 50% of the original market price. I sell on eBay and check the going price there, and depending on what I paid. I sell Buy it Now or Best Offer, and depending on the action I come down to a certain level. No Free Shipping, around $2.85.
My memory is alright, but your posts just aren't that, well, memorable.

It is still a contradiction as you are buying discs, for whatever reason, despite having said repeatedly that you stopped doing so long ago. Whether you just buy them for the digital code, the packaging, the aroma, it doesn't matter. A purchase is a purchase no matter why you do it. For the record, have you stopped buying discs entirely, for any reason whatsoever, and when did you stop? From your use of the present tense in your comment, it sounds like you are still buying discs. If so, there's that contradiction again.

Why not just buy the digital version outright online from say, Vudu, or from whomever, instead of going through all the hassle of having to sell off an unwanted disc and then pack and ship it off? Why not just shop here on this website for the deeply discounted codes that are perpetually being offered by disc collectors who have no use for them? Many people give the things away free. Surely you know this?

The price for used discs has dropped sharply, but the market is hardly gone. It just isn't as lucrative as it once was. Try selling the slip covers; there are plenty of collectors who are gaga for them.

It’s the only way I could describe your post. It has already been asked and answered why I don’t have my HT on display. Several times in fact. If you really want to know, PM me.

A dedicated HT to me is a projector, surrounds, and equipment. It doesn’t serve any other purpose than films. Is that dedicated enough for you?

I have a OLED in my living room on which I watch Netfliix, Sky tv, play games and watch occasional broadcast channels as well as sport.

In my bedroom I have a wet suit with snorkel and flippers. I am a bit kinky so it comes in very handy.

I rarely look on eBay for used disc but I do check Amazon. What I find is this, titles that have been out for awhile are not worth much on the used market. Fairly recent titles: most want almost new prices for their disc.

Exceptions, I have had The Serpent and the Rainbow, a catalog title, in one of my Amazon list for many months waiting for a price reduction. Has not happened yet, folks on eBay want more than the new price on Amazon. Had this same scenario on several titles in the past.

I sure wish some folks would learn a little about market saturation, supply and demand, etc.

Just checked several titles on eBay for the asking price of digital codes and most would not be worth my time to list. The Matrix 4K was an exception at $6.50

I have owned The Serpent And The Rainbow on every format since laserdisc. I hope it reaches an agreeable price point for you soon.

There are a lot of ways to obtain a movie now; it does not surprise me that used titles are not commanding the price that they once were. As for paying near to new prices for a used recent release, that is just silly. Almost all newly released titles drop substantially in price a few weeks after they street. They also go on sale often, too. Why buy used when I can buy brand new for $5-$15 if I just wait a little? Even many 4K titles drop to $10-$15. In fact, there are 49 4K disc titles on sale right now listed on this website for $10.93- $15.53.

I don't shop for digital codes as I would not buy them at any price. I may have said why that is in a couple of my earlier posts.

Catalog titles are a different critter, though, their prices are often quite stable. Warner Archive titles are about $22 on release day, but they routinely settle around $18 soon afterwards. Even Criterion goes on sale for 50% off a few times a year. Patience and planning go a long way with this hobby.

I just bought a used copy of Mask of the Phantasm, the WA disc with both aspect presentations, for $6 and some change SHIPPED off of eBay. That's a phenomenal deal.

eBay has a place for your BD needs. Again, if you're one of the types that can't own a "used" item because it's "icky" or you're just afraid that it may not work then go and use whatever services you feel comfortable using. eBay is not going anywhere.

That's a great price!

When I do buy used discs, I immerse them in 91% isopropyl alcohol for 30 seconds to kill any kooties that they are almost certain to have.

I am considering whether or not to buy a used OOP title on ebay right now. The title is $30 used, but that is an auction starting price without a "Buy It Now" option vs. $102 new. At Amazon, the third party sellers there want $160 new with no used offerings at all. Ironically, when I buy used I often wind up paying far, far more than what the title cost new on release day. It's a big "oops" having to pay OOP prices.

Hear ya. Recently paid $45.00 for a used Beastmaster because Amazon never got any copies.

In the early days I entered a Amazon contest and won 100 BD titles and a Philips BD player. I kept about 28 titles and gave the rest and player to my son. One of the few things I have ever won!

I have always made list of desired rentals and purchases. I remember going into the local rental stores (before chains) with my rental list printed on 2-½" thermal paper tape. I needed a ordered list because title(s) may be out.

That's a pretty nice prize to have won! I couldn't win a kick in the teeth at a mule farm.

The last time I paid more than I would have liked for a BD was for the Ronin-Flix BD of "Hardware." It's one of the best films of the 90's and one of the best BD releases of 2018. The price tag was about $40 shipped, and that was with a $5 discount for buying it early. I don't remember if it went OOP yet or not.

Your edition looks to be "oop." I have the earlier 2009 and less acclaimed release.

I'm still using the zoom method for 2.39 but still considering a A lens and sled. The Panamorph calculator says I will need to move my projector back almost 2 feet.
I don’t utilize a sled, so unfortunately no sleigh bells....but I do have my projector mounted on the ceiling with a Festivus pole.

Hey Wendell, I will PM you with all the other answers since it is somewhat off topic.

Not a problem. IMO, your answers might be informative and relate to some of the post here so folks could see how you use your home theater. I'm sure it qualifies as one.

Good man. I did (£700) a few weeks back. 50 titles. Mind you that included tv (Twin Peaks: The Return and Twilight Zone Series 3)

Well, that works out, because it turns out people who spend $722 or more are considered to have a problem. Since you were under that amount, you're all good!

Well, then I have a problem as this is in addition to the 32 titles I bought earlier this month. I just ordered 35 more titles today!

And a new storage rack that cost another $307!

Time to back away from the computer, far, far away...

Edit: make that 40 titles ordered today; I found five more that I couldn't live without.
