Im going to be so poor next few months

Arrow had some awesome October releases and pretty much bought them all and they take money on preorder order which is annoying lol.

I cant complain though, not had MANY Criterion releases recently that I have been excited for so can't wait.

Wish we could get B&N sale in UK lol.

When i last checked only certain sellers did and for me (unless I did it wrong) delivery was STUPIDLY expensive and it didn't really save me much money :P

Kwaidan certainly does qualify as a visually dynamic film.

Hopefully the transfer does it justice.

...I can already hear the foaming-at-the-mouth arguments about the color treatment.

It does ship but it's a gamble. They've been known to mark packages with the full price rather than the sale price meaning you don't end up saving any money due to customs and postage fees. Also, however many you order, you have no control over when they ship, meaning if you order 5, they might ship as five separate packages, some marked up as full price...

Been stung twice!

On the other hand, I've had lots with no hassle.

Pays yer money and takes yer choice.

You can order from the UK easily from B&N but, as above, care is needed and postage can be expensive but if you order several at once it evens out.

Do you actually save much money if you get away with customs? Or does the delivery costs end up making the purchase almost normal Criterion price?

I'll just wait for BIOT sale... soon I hope!

Well, now that two of their most-anticipated titles are out, already keen to see what's on their plate for next month (a release day that'll be at least two days later than usual).

Interesting that the cover for The Brood has kind of a stylized giallo feeling to it -- that's not a vibe I've ever gotten from that movie.

I'm definitely in for The Brood and A Special Day.

I'll probably hit Kwaidan during the November sale as well. I'm not huge into David Lynch, but I'll probably also be enticed to see Mulholland Drive again at some point.

Yeah, I used to save a bundle buying in bulk once or twice a year, as they used to mark all the parcels as 'books'. Happy days. Then they started marking them as discs and being unreliable on pricing.

I don't know if it's still the same but it used to be quite expensive to ship one or two but the more you had, the cheaper it got.

The last straw for me was having a package of 8 ship as four separate parcels, each marked as full price and each one attracting a customs charge and admin charge. It might well have been cheaper to fly to NY to pick them up

I pleaded with them to either a) ship as one package and let me pay one fee or b) let me pay the charge upfront as you do with Amazon.com. They wouldn't budge on either so that was my last order.

It might all be different now, so if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will tell me and I might have another go in November. Failing that, I've found Ebay and Amazon just as useful and as cheap in the long run (for us UK people any road).

It's a mediocre film. The best scenes are those with Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar in her therapy sessions. If he had removed all the horror elements and made a drama focusing on her treatment, it could have been incredible.

Edit: I have to mention that I love Robert Silverman in all his Cronenberg roles.

Mulholland Dr. is one of those films that's an easy day 1 purchase. Bollocks to waiting for a sale.

Hell yes I enjoy The Brood, and every other Cronenberg classic. And hell yes it will be added to my collection day one, and treasured for all time.
