Eclair and Ritrovita don't seem to have any outward links but what's interesting is that Eclair's website says that they did the recent restoration of The Producers - all yellow and green with gamma shot to hell - while StudioCanal's twitter indicated that it was a Ritrovita joint. 'Hmmmmm' he said, stroking his beard thoughtfully.

[edit] and Eclair did the 4K restoration for Ran, complete with the exact same look as described above.

So far the 'Cyber Monday' deals seem worse...everything went up.

Ordered the Rambo movies from Amazon as they hit their lows.

As I receive them, the $14.99 copies from Target go back...

Can't recall if someone else mentioned it or not but Rambo: First Blood Part II has been misframed again and is off-balance.

On the previous Studio Canal master, the "soundtrack area" on the left was exposed, for the UHD they correctly matted it out although this time they included too much image area on the right so certain shots look like they were incompently composed.

There is no excuse for this level of incompetence.

They may have exposed a little more on the right than intended but even so, as with EFNY there was very little evidence during the actual film that the framing was wildly incorrect. I did see four dark blobs impinging on the extreme right of the frame during some of the inserts of the helicopter interior when Rambo has rescued the POWs, likely some sort of bleed from the perfs, but the rest of it really did look fine, particularly with stuff like group shots and two shots where people didn't look like they'd been herded over into one side or the other. If you look at the framing of the old Lionsgate Blu and the new SC transfer they're extremely similar. Not identical, but close enough to not cause me any further consternation.

I bought all 4 films (first 3 in 4K) on iTunes for a combined $9.99. I had them already on Blu-Ray, watched First Blood in 4K, looks clean. You can't beat the value. Am I going to hell?

Tried to watch First Blood before I left for my hometown and could not get it to play on my Sony whatsoever. Could also not get the color to look right on the LG whatsoever. Rambo 2 loaded with proper color the second go, but couldn't get First Blood to do it at all. Anyone else with an LG player have this issue?

When I get home tomorrow I'll clean the disc and see if the Sony will play it then.
