From the trailer and probably good direction, I think they will be their characters on screen. Unlike in the prequels, those were just actors "trying to be" characters rather than "be" characters (except for Jango and Palpatine, the only ones that seemed to "not be aware" that they were in a Star Wars film.)

Even from the short clip, that looked like Han Solo rather than Harrison Ford trying to act like Han Solo (hopefully avoiding the problem he had in Crystal Skull where Harrison was too aware and created a parody of Indiana Jones rather than being the actual character).

I really hope Mark Hamill gets more screentime in future films because he seems to be the only one enthusiastic about Star Wars rather than the other actors who have become bitter over the years. From all these interviews and presentations, Hamill really seems hungry and passionate for still being in the spotlight.

I was hoping to see Leia in this. I don't think she was.

I told you guys the idiotic rumor sites (AICN and others) were wrong saying the trailer would debut in front of The Avengers 2, and I said that this wasn't the 1990's anymore, that the trailer release would be a global internet event, not just a trailer in front of a blockbuster.

I really love how the imperial look/ flavor is back. It's one of my favorite things about Star Wars and I missed it in the prequels big time. I love the updated look on it, too.

I also love that pic above with the Stormteoppers, it's going full on Third Reich and it tells you a lot about this film. Great image

Looks great. Ten times more real than the prequels, both due to practical effects and better use of CGI. Loved the Han Solo moment obviously.

Bit worried about the rebels still being rebels, or "the resistance." I feel like Return of the Jedi (especially the special edition) definitely implied the Empire was dead and the Republic would be reformed. I guess we'll have to see how they handle it.

Like many others, I noticed that Luke spoke of Anakin in the present tense. Does that mean we're likely to see Hayden's ghost?
It's dialog from Return of the Jedi, so it means nothing plot-wise for this film.

If the PT had been done well and handled the Pre-OT look well, I bet this trilogy would've gone a different route. Everyone has UOT nostalgia, and that's what Abrahms is giving us.

^ @ stringinvelvet -- i'd argue the family connection would be the heart of this film.

This trailer makes those leaks from Spoilerman a while ago seem pretty damn legit... and so I'm glad I didn't read to far into them

Where's Mr. Plinkett's reaction? Do he tear up his office again?

potentially their presence is around the dialogue luke speaks from Return of The Jedi at the beginning of the trailer. the robotic arm on R2 and the handing of a lightsaber to someone..i assumed was Leia.

Well when Luke's ROTJ voiceover says "my sister has it," they show a woman taking a lightsaber from someone. It looks like a young woman's hands tho...

yea its funny, but I have just noticed the extra dialogue "...you have that power too.." completely blanked that out.

I did not realize until watching the trailer again just now that the film is going to be in 3D. Was it shot in 3D or converted to 3D?
