OLED has it's issues, as well. Like you said, the lower peak brightness being one, and also the near-black capability, but they were less bothersome of an issue to me. I know that's just the opposite for a lot of people, but to me those are more livable trade-offs.
Honestly, the trade-off is a no-brainer for me. Sure, OLED has its downsides (maybe cost, relative fragility, and some banding), but it's definitely among the best flat-panel viewing experiences! I honestly don't even notice peak brightness issues; I've had to turn down brightness for HDR and gaming quite a bit because it was too bright.

It's really a "to each his own" kind of scenario, I suppose but since getting the LG C7, I've really wanted an OLED phone and laptop, too. Definitely can't argue with the reduced power consumption that OLED illumination provides!

Goofs are not corrected like the 3D master. This suggests an all new scan and remaster, though the goofs might have been corrected after the master was prepared, impossible to know.

There IS grain, though it does vary from scene to scene, shot to shot. Indoor scenes in the visitor centre look grainier. Outdoor scenes look a bit DNR’d, though of course this could be the result of the encoding. For what it’s worth, grain is more apparent watching on my iPad, which suggests the 1080p master simply hasn’t been updated yet. Predator was the exact same.

However... the detailing is very good in the 4K presentation. And the only way to go is up, so hopefully the slight smoothness of the iTunes version is just the result of the compression, and the actual discs look better.

Also, I saw no problems with cropping...

I also sampled The Lost World. Looks like a nice, detailed, organic presentation. Grain is apparent.

I think these will look pretty damn good on disc.
Exactly my thoughts! That explains why streaming it on my Pc gave me the outdated 1080p version! That said can you try to stream the 4K version with the HDR off? How does it look? Wasn’t able to do this with my iPhone x as it’s HDR on by default no matter what. And non-HDR downloads only gave me the outdated master. Praying that this won’t mean that the 1080p discs will be left outdated as well

Yup, I remember when people were saying the new Predator master looked great, I streamed it on my iMac and only got the waxworks edition. The new master will be available in 1080p at some point. Universal didn’t press new discs for The Mummy so it’s hard to tell if the new Blus will be updated. Probably not.

You can stream it without HDR by switching the video and audio settings on the Apple TV. Looks a bit duller. I prefer the HDR

Yeah i imagine it would be a bit fuller but it should still look better than the 2011 version altogether. I’m just wondering if it ever does get a 1080p master based on the new restoration what it would look like. I’d imagine that the blacks would still be deeper too. I also
have yet to own a 4K TV either.

It would be so sad if the new 1080p disc isn’t updated. I would cancel my preorder if that’s the case a I really only care for the first movie (and sort of Jurassic World just for continuity sake if Fallen Kingdom turns out any good).

Is this set worth triple dipping on? Already bought all on DVD and blu-ray and first film on VHS before too.

Even more excited for these to come out after seeing the new Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom trailer. There's gotta be a huge Mary Shelley horror influence in the third act, which is just awesome

Oh yeah, so excited to play this on my brand new PS2.

Seriously, what the hell is going on at ILM?

The Trailer sold me much more than the others, and i have no doubts we're in for amazing set pieces with Bayona behind the camera.. but some of those VFX are just.. offensive.

I hope Bayona sees this and asks ILM to correct the shot (and a few others with Rexy) before shipping out the DCPs, worldwide. It seems very half-baked.

What's wrong with that shot might I ask? Looks mighty realistic to me.

I'm not seeing what you are seeing. What is wrong with that shot? I'm being sincere.

Jurassic Park is worthy of infinite dips.

It looks like it has unfinished lighting, making the raptor stand out too much as a digital model. I thought that shot was weird as well.

Lighting looks finished to me, particularly the way the lightbar on the right glistens on Blue's jaw. Maybe it just looks better to me on my OLED display, who knows.

Agreed, the lighting is correct. The right side of the raptor's face and its body make that clear. This is hardly a shot to complain about.

Not seeing anything wrong with that picture either. Maybe in the trailer it looks weird?

Oh, so it's me... well, to be honest, in that shot everything looks wrong to me. From the hideous cartoonish model to the shaders, from the awful compositing (why on earth are dark spots on the raptor, like nostrils and inside of the mouth, so much brighter than the dark areas on the background?) to the wrong use of depth of field and chromatic aberration.

It just looks gamey and out of place, if there was a real, physical thing on set, we would see a completely different lighting on that raptor in terms of self-shadowing, highlights, and indirect light sources.
