Just wrapped up calibration by David Abrams.... AMAZING. I instantly noticed a huge difference in color, depth, and overall beauty in the picture. Apparently, after a few days of adjusting to the calibration it gets even better. David Abrams is the MAN. Superb experience all around. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yeah, I was so used to watching everything in "Standard" mode and once D-Nice calibrated my set it took a day or two to adjust. I was so used to Torch mode that it was a whole new experience watching isf Day/Night. There are times that my TV almost looks 3D. It's definetly worth the $ in my opinion

When you had your 6020 calibrated which picture modes did you have done? Did you get the ControlCal patch to unlock the isf modes? I forget if you can unlock those modes with the 6020/5020 Kuros.

^That's what I figured. I guess "Pure" mode gets calibrated on those sets.

Sorry about the late reply i've been adding a new copier to my router/wireless network and I just finished. It sucks learning on the fly lol. Anyway I had the movie mode and standard mode calibrated so depending on my mood, movie and lighting I have options This calibration was the frosting on the cake the detail real looks amazing now im so fricken happy I could cry seriously im pretty impressed because I didnt think it could get any better but it sure did. It did take me a couple of days to get use to it but when watching a nice bluray it almost looks 3d the Images really pop now with detail and depth unlike before

How come you didn't get the Pure mode calibrated? All the electronic websites I read they say the Pure mode is most accurate and that's where they calibrate their's according to cnet.com, ultimateavmag.com, hometheatermag.com etc.

I have some questions about calibration.

Does the calibrator need to take the tv off the wall mount to get access to rear panel and take apart anything or is it just through display control settings?

When it comes to "Day/Night" settings does the calibrator need to come during the day to calibrate the tv's 'Day' settings for the room's specific lighting and then come back at night to adjust the 'Night' settings?

Because the 6020 doesnt have a pure mode and most calibraters will use the standard and or the movie mode whitch is the most accurate for my display

No,nothing needs to come apart

Can calibrate day and night settings in any room light and at the same time .

Does the calibrator have to turn off some of the features on the Kuro like it's Orbitor, Side Mask detection, Auto Size, Energy Save Mode etc to calibrate it to it's best picture?

I'd like to have the best picture possible calibrated for bluray/dvd viewing and he can do whatever he wants to the settings to get the best picture for that even if he has to turn off all the safety features. Bluray/dvd viewing is my primary concern and #1 reason why I bought my plasma.

But for broadcast and cable tv viewing - sports/racing, tv shows etc I want all of the safety features on my Kuro to be activated at all times like:

Orbitor - Mode 2
Side Mask Detection - All set to Mode 2
Energy Save Mode - Mode 2 for regular tv viewing.

So he would probably create a setting specifically for bluray/dvd and another seperate setting for tv viewing right?

Also, does he need to adjust the tv settings specifically for my electronic equipment (bluray player, reciever, amp) or it doesn't matter? If he calibrates my tv next week with all my current equipment hooked up and next year I decide to get a new bd player and new reciever does he need to come back to adjust it?

If you are getting a calibration with the ISF modes ,Day and Night ,other modes will still be adjustable by you with whatever settings you like , with all the safety features enabled ,if you like .Pure , Movie Sport . ect ect .

As far as AVR and BD Player ,the calibrator should chk to see if the setting are doing any thing funny to the signal .,but for for example the OPPO player uses fact default settings . You just dont want you BD Player of AVR processing the signal and making it worse , I adjusted the contrast on MY OPPO player +1 and made PQ way off , should leave all settings at 0 .

So I should set the bd player to 'Source Direct' and pass along all native content on the disc untouched to the tv and let the Pio Kuro processors do the upconverting and so forth?

If I want the bd player to upconvert dvd's and set the player to 1080p/24 output is that going to effect the tv's settings PQ?

The guy I used set the OPPO video setting to 1080p24 output to AUTO . I tried source direct and it took the display from 1080p to 1080i.

The upconvert is set to auto also

DVD 24p conversion is set to off

You might have been playing a 1080i concert video or documentary. When I place the OPPO BDP-83 in source direct mode the Pioneer PRO-101FD info screen says it is receiving 1080P when playing Blu-ray movies that were encoded in 1080P.

Black level reproduction will vary depending on the source. Some movies have better black levels than others. If the source material is top-notch, the black bars will match the displays bezel and blend right in. Wish all material was this good.

We'll power save 2 effectively removed the buzz from my 101fd. I can still hear it on extremely low volume watching, but it is never loud enough to distract me now. Hopefully when I move to my new place having the couch lower than the screen will help, and I can return it to normal to get that little extra amount of brightness back. I have pretty much accepted that my buzz is normal as I have heard about some 101fd's that are UNWATCHABLE at any volume.

Other than that I am now looking for an isf certified tech to calibrate my display. I need help finding one and I have no idea where to start looking. I am located NW of Atlanta in Kennesaw. Any help would be appreciated.
