I spent over $40 and it wasn't listed in my shipping either.

looks like Diabolik has put some sanctions in place for Dark Force.

The newest release. But it has an HD cut and a VHS cut. I think the VHS cut might run a little longer. Can't remember and can't find my BD.

Does anyone know when the store is coming back up? Feels like it's been down a week and a half now.

I still find it weird when websites close anyway, have only seen that with ecig sites and now some boutique movie sites

It's only done by those that don't understand web sites and storefronts.

I finally got around to watching my copy of Mirror Mirror last night and I really enjoyed it. Acting was a plus as Rainbow Harvest and Kristin Datillo were great with a solid supporting cast around them. I dug the story and it had some good kills with a nice late 80s/early 90s vibe. I didn't initially like the ending but upon further thought, I appreciate that they went a different route with it. Overall, great film and Dark Force did a great job with the presentation! It was a great blind buy on my part but thanks to TripleHBK for the recommendation!

I mean I can understand the sites going down for a day or two, for whatever reason. Some boutique sites (i.e. VinSyn) go dark for a couple days after a big sale, I just assumed it was to give them breathing room to process and ship out orders without getting even more backed up.

But Dark Force's site says it's "down for maintenance" and it's been way longer than a day or two. That's some broken hamster-wheel shit.

I believe Dave himself or possibly one other person in addition to him handle all shipping duties. When he shuts the site down in allows him time to ship out all pending orders but more than that, it means he doesn't need to constantly watch his e-mail for new orders. As I'm sure you're aware many movie fans are a fickle bunch and if their order doesn't ship out within 2 days they start raising hell and pursuing chargebacks. Dave would have to constantly be packing/shipping orders every day of the week if the site was up full time. As he currently structures things he has days off and doesn't have to worry about the wrath of angry movie fans.

That all said, Dave is also a promoter and likes to hype up his releases. Having the store close down does help to create a minor aura of scarcity for folks that aren't wise to how things work, thus the unaware may be more likely to splurge and buy more titles at a time out of fear of the store closing and certain titles being gone the next time it opens.

Assuming that I am correct that he Darkforce is a 1 or 2 man job, I actually think the way that they run things makes perfect sense.

I've always thought it was a pretty smart way to handle things on a small scale too. Have the store open when you're schedule allows 100% focus on it and your customers, shut it down if not.

I imagine it can be a bit frustrating for the casual buyer who isn't following closely though.

And I totally get that, that's why I used the VinSyn example; I don't know how many people they have doing orders but I imagine it's way fewer than we'd assume, and scheduled downtime makes sense. I guess a better way of saying it is that my issue isn't that the store is down, since that's not uncommon, it's just the lack of clear messaging. I mean the first thing you see is "Down for Maintenance" which means something else entirely lol.

But maybe that's where the hype thing comes in.

Watched BOG and Mako over the weekend, neither film comes close to living up to the promise of the description or trailer however both films are still fun to watch.
