What does it say about me if I think one of the greatest movies ever made could have been made even better?

I obsess about stupid shit, by the way.

I can't imagine the new stuff completely destroying the film.

The French plantation seems like an interesting idea, so even if it derails the story for a solid chunk of time, it seems to at least be doing something. Going backwards in time through Vietnam's history more explicitly, from American war to French occupation all the way back to the primordial setting of Kurtz's compound is definitely something.

*long screed that includes awards, critical citations, and IMDB ratings, proving that you are just the wrongest of the wrong and you should feel ashamed*

I like the Final Cut. Because I’m one of the few who likes the French Plantation scene. I hated the Playboy Bunny scene which is only in the Redux Cut.

It definitely enriches the story. It also has more Brando, and that never hurts.

I watched The Final Cut in IMAX in 2019 and the French plantation scene went on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

You make it sound like DVR, but I don’t think it’s that at all.

Incorrect - its subjective as it always is. There are those who cant stand 2001, Godfather, whatever. Critics dont mean a damned thing to me. At all.

I cant stand Apocalypse Now and I am not ashamed.

Getting jokes about DVR > having those jokes sail over one's head.

The scene is interesting but the pacing is awful. It just kills it dead. Shame really. Fantastic movie.

As much as I love In the Mouth of Madness (it's one of my favorite Carpenter films), I respectfully disagree. Memoirs of an Invisible Man is okay, Village of the Damned has its moments, but his other '90s films just make me sad. They don't have any aspect that feels like a Carpenter movie at all (VOTD barely does).
