I wonder if OP massively downsized his collection or if he never logged his whole collection on this site.

Am I the only one who wasn’t aware they’d amassed so many titles until cataloguing their entire collection? When my tally passed 1500 at the start of this year my jaw just about dropped.

They only take up one entire corner...or maybe a wall- I swear!

Similar thing happened to me in the mid 00s when I put every last DVD into DVD Profiler (took forever), I had well over 2000

I think I started keeping track on here when it was around 300-400 so it was pretty manageable to catalogue. I use the app now so it makes things much easier when you can just scan in the barcode. Cataloguing became required for me when I kept forgetting what titles I already owned and would accidently buy them twice (only has happened 3 times, I think). This is easily the most physical titles I've ever owned, even before I sold off most of my DVDs years ago I never reached this height.

My collection pretty much occupies an entire wall, then another smaller wall, then a couple even smaller walls, and then another small area for DVDs I still have...

Yesterday, I had to reshuffle some of the titles around in order to make more room for categories that I have them organized by. That's only going to work for a little while longer before I need to start getting creative with shelf locations.

Like everybody in this thread, I can relate. If I wasn't single, I don't know if I would get away with displaying all of my blu-rays on shelving. I sort of have my collection flowing from one set of shelves to another ... adding sections of shelving as needed. That can only last so long though.

Well, today was the big day, the big 10,000.

It looks like I hit the mark in the middle of my Kino sale order. Ordeal by Innocence was the 10,000th film.

I think like myself, you live and breathe films!

You put my 800 collection to shame though!

The super big collectors don't usually answer that question I have noticed over the years.

I don't know that I qualify as a "super big collector", but I would estimate that I have watched approximately 75% of my collection to date. My being retired since 2006 has allowed me to make a lot of headway.

It is should also be pointed out that I also buy content that is of interest to other people, not just content that exclusively interests me. I aim to please more than just myself with my collection.

Another day, another blu-ray milestone reached. With my recent order from Twilight Time, I surpassed the 1,600 mark. I'll give the credit to the film that came up as number 1,600 when I added them to my collection in here ... which is My Sister Eileen. With this recent Twilight Time order (through SAE), I also have again run out of shelf space. Guess I might have to consider moving to a larger house.

My shipment from the recent Powerhouse/Indicator sale came in today. One of these put me at the 1000 blu ray mark, as I was at 998 before:
I've been seriously collecting blu rays for about 6 1/2 years (I had a handful before that). I keep telling myself that I'll be more selective with the blu rays I buy, but then sales happen. I'm not buying at the rate I was a few years ago, but I still manage to go over budget most months. Lately, I've been giving thought to thinning my collection. There are an embarrassing number that I haven't yet watched, and many of the ones I have watched I will probably never watch again, not because I don't want to but because they're so far down on the queue now I know that realistically I'll never get to them.

Yeah, I know, 1st world problem.

I can relate. I try to be so selective too ... but it's so hard to resist a good sale. I often justify my purchases by telling myself that the price of the Blu-ray is less than the cost to see the movie in the theater ... and you get to keep the movie to watch over and over again too! Maybe that doesn't matter if its hard to find the time to watch them in the first place.
