Agreed. The clouds are a great improvement, clearly superior with the HDR (I mean you can actually see the detail vs not lol)...but yikes, his jaw line and teeth are waxy by comparison. Hoping for the best of course when the actual disc hits!

edit: BTW, thanks for the pics, Mierzwiak!

Not to be mean to the others you pointed out but that's pretty much why I stopped posting a while ago. It was getting nowhere when I'm simply making observations from the latest master that we can temporarily access to for the time being (iTunes Digital HD), but people were raging and cursing all sorts of things like how there was no grain and what not when there is.

I'm more curious as to what this would look like on 1080p SDR with the latest master. That said, the 1080p stream is still based on the 2011 version. If this is any indication (crossing my fingers it isn't), I wouldn't be surprised if the 1080p Blu-Ray disc will remain outdated.

Individual releases are coming in June for the UK (at least I'm presuming the listings on BASE don't refer to the steelbooks). So the US can't be too far behind.

It's Universal, it's more likely the old master was sharpened to hell and back (See: John Carpenter's The Thing, the transfers from Universal/Shout vs the transfer from Arrow and the whole shitshow of a thread that came from it).

I watched the "making of" for the DVD and the blu-ray on YT yesterday. That's one trilogy where I can still enjoy the features Love BTTF and the story of it all getting made.

Jurassic Park. I'd rather just watch the films and hope they've spent all their budget on making PQ/ATMOS upgrade stunning

Are we getting an ATMOS track? I thought it was mentioned to have a DTS:X track.

Isn't the whole point of sharing comparison shots to compare the image quality?
I don't get it either. Either do it right, or don't do it at all.

Fair call! I meant immersive upgrade. And no I don't give two shits about the debate on that.

DTS: X. Ugh. Universal went with Atmos on Darkest Hour, so why not their bred and butter franchise???

One argument would be they were always DTS reference tracks since LD.

DTS: X in its current iteration is inferior to Dolby Atmos. That's a fact.

The original audio files are PCM anyway. It doesn't matter if they're washed trough Dolby TrueHD lossless coding.

I think the original Jurassic Park was mixed in DTS, if I'm not mistaken.

This was my point, yes. And it's one of the flagship titles for THX sound in DTS. It has a sort of branding legacy if you will...

It was only compressed using DTS's technology for theatrical distribution. DTS and Dolby are only encoding/decoding compression schemes unless you're also talking about their proprietary immersive audio panning software, but even then, the audio stems are LPCM all the way through until encoding and then back to LPCM at the decoding/decompression stage. The actual JP soundtrack was recorded and mixed with uncompressed Linear Pulse Code Modulation (LPCM).

See my post above. DTS and Dolby are mostly branded audio compression codecs nowadays. They're compressing LPCM audio and making you think it's DTS audio or Dolby audio via marketing.
