Another thing this display has spoiled me with is how much easier the grayscale was to calibrate then other displays I've worked on. For this one it didn't take long to dial in settings for 80 and 30 IRE and once done it was accurate all the way, no spikes at any particular IRE. On my Sony V5100 as well as my friend's Samsung plasma it took much longer and the RGB balance curve still do not look as good as the Kuro's.

Factor, did he set up ISF day and night? Also, did the BB guy darken out the windows for night watching when he calibrated? If he used controlcal you should have ISF day and night.

Think Factor has a 6020FD, which like my 5020FD does not have ISF features. On ours the only thing you can calibrate is grayscale, and actually before the recent update to ControlCAL we could only calibrate the grayscale for when PureCinema is turned off. Latest update allows copying the settings over to other PureCinema modes as well.

Default KuroControl for KRP/Signature Elite

Hey everybody, long time lurker and proud Kuro owner here!

Guess I'll just jump right in--has anyone enabled the ISF modes on their 500M/600M yet? There is a new program available called KuroControl that allows for this without the need for the $100 ControlCal patch. For the cost of a network cable, I was able to hook up to the ethernet port of my 500M and have the ISF modes running within 20 minutes. I entered D-Nice's excellent Day/Night reference settings and the results are spectacular! Goodbye Pure mode! I'm super excited about it and wanted to share this information in case anyone is interested in bringing their KRP to the next level

Not sure if I can post a direct link, but KuroControl can be found in the "other" forum, as well as a helpful thread that will guide you through the process.

So you guys use the same mode for night and day? Did you darken out the room completely? When I had BB do my Mits Diamond he didn't darken anything. It was calibrated to the exact light the was at that specific time of day.

Glad you got it working. I'm loving the ISF modes myself. ISF Day is really amazing--it's like a clearer, brighter version of Pure on steroids. And Night is an excellent movie mode that's easy on the eyes. Shadow detail, sharpness and color saturation are all superior as well.

According to the AVS thread, yes.

The program enables and unlocks the ISF modes on the North American KRP's by basically changing it to a European model.

Yup, you'd just skip the step where you change the model to a Euro version. Otherwise it works exactly the same. It works on the KRP 500/600M and Signature series 101 and 141.
