i have both a PC and a MAC, i only use the pc when the mac is doing something else for me. And i despise every minute of it, its like going back in time to use a piece of electronic that does nothing right, nothing easy, and pretty much leaves me wanting to pull my hair out, on the other hand i LOVE my mac and wish i would have switched sides sooner

I think its pretty obvious that the MAC commercials bash PC alot harder then PC could ever bash MAC, and unless you are damn near a hacker and can build your pc's mac is the way to go
never did understand the windows bashing. are you running windows 98? who gets viruses?

and its not like apple makes completely laughable commercials or anything. anyone see the iphone commercial touting copy/paste? you know..the thing every other smartphone has had for the last 10 years. i love apple..but damn they act like they invented everything

imo you can't go wrong with either. you can install both os' on both computers if you know what you're doing. is it worth paying more because the apple looks better? if you're into being trendy..i suppose. personally i love building a computer, but my ibook rules too. so i dunno. i choose no side

hehe, nope, but as i said i am no hacker, and as to who gets viruses......ummm everyone i know, well everyone except my one buddy who went to school for computers, and knows just about everything about them. And my last 3-4 PC's were crashed infected hijacked etc... on a pretty regular basis, and i understand there are tons of extra programs you can buy subscribe to and run on a constant basis to keep it cool, but man, I have done things on my mac that i gaurantee would have had me taking any one of my pc's in for repair without so much as a hiccup.

I am in no way an apple fan boy, but i can say this is my first mac, and the experience i have had so far is so so so VERY much better then anything on a pc for me i would never go back. And even using a pc at this point really does just annoy the hell out of me, for a number of reasons. Also i don't think the premium you pay for a mac is as much as some people make it out to be.

True dat. It's only a matter of time before the infallible Mac OS gets infected.

As it turns out Apple isn't legally right prohibiting those IDs.
That was on engadget today:
"Unauthorized use of assigned or unassigned USB Vendor ID Numbers and associated Product ID Numbers are strictly prohibited."

The implication here is that Palm believes Apple is violating this stature by disallowing certain Vendor IDs -- namely, Palm's -- from using iTunes.

I.e. when Apple got their ID nobody authorized them to to what they do.

I think you're way better of on Macs then.
Although, considering that my 14 yr old nephew manages to keep his PC clean and he's not in comp school either, I think it's not that hard.
On the other hand, remembering that several of my coworkers managed to get viruses and trojans on their shiny new mac laptops, (and those guys work for comp industry more or less), I suspect it ain't that hard to pickup a virus for Mac either.

And you are badly mistaken if you think your mac will be virus free w/o antivirus, malware detection programs and such.

Unix based servers get hacked on daily bases. Ok, it's a webserver, runs software for public access and all that, but And unlike inexperienced users on macs, those servers are maintained by professionals(more or less). in the end, it is the same OS your Mac OS is based on, which runs software written by humans (whether they work for apple or not), which contains vulnerabilities... So, what exactly makes you think Macs are virus free, when on hacker cons they are getting cracked just as well.
The only thing is the market share.

Considering that Mac as an OS always was and is more restrictive than Windows, I am really curious to hear, what exactly did you do. Just an example...

2 weeks ago, I had to help the guy who clicked a link on the spam email impersonating BOFA and filled in the form giving out his bank account credentials. Luckily he mentioned that few minutes later, so there was no harm done, he just went back and changed his credentials.
The thing that really cracked me up - his comment that PCs are POS, and it'd never happen to him on Mac!

As far as I can tell from my practical experience with both, PCs, Macs and their users, most of the PC bashing is based on those type of things, in other words simple ignorance and shifting the blame to someone else.
