Blu-ray.com review here.

The movie section contains some moderate spoilers so if you want to come in the movie without knowing anything just skip to the technical part.

I don't think I am going to add it to library because not sure of replay value to me.

I was all for what that perv got comming to him and thought the girl was convincing and unrelenting though.
I enjoyed it in the theater but I agree that it isnt a movie Id watch over and over. As I recall I spent the second half of the film sitting with my legs crossed.
If ur a big Ellen Paige fan its a must buy tho. She was great.

I'm definitely an Ellen Page fan, she does absolutely phenomenal in every performance, but this one and Inception are her best. I really respect her as an actress since she doesn't just star in anything, she picks her movies pretty well.

I've seen Hard Candy around 6 times, but all of the viewings were spread out.

In light of the review and the price point, I think this may be a safe bet as blind buys go (I haven't seen this film as yet). I'm picking up my copy today after work.

This was a blind buy for me as well. Being an Ellen Page fan and this only being $10 made this an obvious blind buy for me. Hopefully it works out for the both of us.

"Blind Buying" was something I did often while collecting DVD's. It turned out, I only liked half of all those blind buys. Half the time it worked out... half the time it was a mistake and waste of money.

When the Blu-ray format came to fruition, I swore not to "blind buy". There's nothing more annoying than looking at your collection and seeing those "blah" titles on your shelf. Those titles that you know you'll never watch again. They stick out like a sore thumb.

That said, these Liongate titles are insanely cheap.

For those whose Best Buy didnt have them for sale, your Best Buy sucks.

For those people who area fan of any of these movies but are waiting until Oct 5th, you suck.

They're the closest thing to a steal since the inception of the format. You're not going to find them for less unless used on eBay or later down the road when the format is dying

Exactly, this is the cheapest they'll be unless they're used and have wear and tear.

I still didn't blind buy any of the movies I bought with the Best Buy exclusive. I've seen and I like all the ones I bought. Which is most of what was put out by Lionsgate that day haha.

Blind buying is a bit of a gamble, but it's not that different than purchasing a movie ticket because a person was sold on the trailer or it was recommended by a friend or relative. I think it all depends on how one rationalizes it.

Very rarely have I ever been disappointed with a blind buy, but I attribute that to a lot of legwork before making any sort of commitment. I think too many people make a purchasing decision solely on the price point and/or the actor(s)/director involved with that project; everything else is either secondary or disregarded.

The Blu-ray release may be priced at an affordable $10, but that's not reason enough for me to give it a go. I took into consideration various factors during the evaluation, including the storyline, the cast, its overall rating on Rotten Tomatoes, reading various reviews (both positive and negative), the quality of the video transfer (audio wasn't as important in this case), the presence of extras (if any) on the disc and likelihood of replay value. If the end result isn't quite what I had hoped for, I can always unload it on Amazon Marketplace.

Well said. I actually use Metacritic AND Rotten Tomatoes

Watched this last night and finished the extras tonight. Extremely powerful movie and left me very satisfied. Loved the ending. Just published the review here a few minutes ago.

I think the movie on DVD alone is wonderful. It's such a pretty film and the instrumental music is fantastic. It's a shame this movie never was given the attention it deserves. Although there is an audience out there for it of course, but to me, it's one of those movies that I think everyone should know about it and should have seen. The acting, the dialogue, etc..... just amazing. I LOVE this film.

I also don't think Patrick Wilson gets the attention he deserves even from the overall fans of this movie. He was so epic in this film. He acted his heart out. He should have won an Oscar.

This is one of my top five favorite movies, so I have no problem watching it again after watching already a few times. The last time being last March I think, so knowing me I will watch it on blu-ray.

I am just curious to know how different it is exactly from blu-ray as far as the quality goes? Not sure if I am gonna buy it since I bought the DVD just last year, but I may rent it from blockbuster online and I am just wondering if I am just going to watch a copy that has very little difference from my DVD copy.

The Blu-ray is really crisp. That was the first word that came to my mind when comparing the Blu to the DVD. Then I sold the DVD on EBAY

I wrote a thorough review for Hard Candy for this very site. Check it out if you'd like.

Officially the worst blind buy I have ever purchased. Just awful but I can see that i'm in the minority here.

I can respect the actor's performances but movie was just not for me.
