Paramount bought HD DVD some time is all. End the end I think cross platform sales will determine where the studios go.
i agree with you on that point.

BluRay Players Sold(Including PS3): Around 5,000,000
HD DVD Players Sold(Including XBOX 360): Around 400,000

Copies of 300 sold on BluRay first day: Around 196,000
Copies of 300 sold on HD DVD first day: Around 96,000

1 out of 25 BluRay fans purchased the movie.
1 out of 4 HD DVD fans purchased the movie.

Is BluRay really that far ahead? If so the numbers should be 10 to 1 and not a disapointing 2 to 1. Numbers don't lie.

With the help of Paramount, and if HD DVD can sell more players at lower prices. Than maybe it's BluRay players that will become expensive paper weights.

Why can't both sides give us the same movie choices and let the public decide, why should anyone have to buy two different players to enjoy thier favorite movies.

Some people might. Just not here. There are other forums for that.

lol not referring to you dude... i made my chose on the BD format when i new the PS3 was going to have it built-in. i used to have a 360 but it died on my twice and i sold it, it doesn't even have an hd-dead built-in. i'm a gamer and an techie, i've chose one format and will stick with it. i'm not going to go neutral just because hd-dead will have Transformer. i love that movie but i will not support a format that i don't believe in. people that are going neutral are just fueling longevity in the format war.

Wink Say whut?

Well, interesting comment as a starter. However I don't actually "need" any movie right now and I firmly believe BDA will end up the winner. It has the numbers, the quality and hopefully this time Sony will have the marketing exerience that they did not have during the Betamax disaster.

I'm a newbie so have at me I suppose, but why switch from a better format to a lesser format just to watch a single movie or series?

I may just go upscaler with OPPO and then take my HD from over the air or via FIOS.

For those of you that are going neutral, just remember you are playing into microsofts plan. To keep this war dragged out means we ALL lose, especialy those with 2 players.

Don't complain about what Paramount does, then go support them. Get off the fence and make a stand one way or the other.

It's like dateing 2 girls, it's fun for a while, but you always end up losing both. (at least I did!!)

Because they want keeping HD-DUD alive ,HD-DUD is already dead.

I'm experience BD its far more better than HD-DUD ,For God's Sake tell me a single HD-DUD contains a true PCM soundtrack like Disney titles ...And for GOD's sake tell me if POTC series or Apocalypto can exist on HD-DVD without compromising PQ and SQ.YES by every measure BD is the superior format and it will be my favourite format.

Today FOX is returning back and turn the table down ,So BD is going to win and HD-DVD will enter a sleeping mode for a long time

I've got WAY too much invested in Blu-Ray now to go neutral. Remember...good things come to those who wait!

It's all good. There just have been a lot of trolls around here since the announcement. Good to see that not everybody is getting cold feet and going neutral.

No neutral here.

I plan to repond to this by buying more Blu Rays then ever before.

I only have 26 thus far but have been selling off my DVDs for BR.

I think Paramount will wake up to the mistake soon enough.

same here
I've always been a Playstation over Xbox gal (I'm not a huge gamer outside of say GTA, Tony hawk's and the odd platform game - i currently own only 2 PS3 games) so have always gone for an over all package - PS2 had a DVD player for example.

Plus, when i tried to play Tony Hawk on my mates Xbox (going back a far bit now to like THPS 3 or 4) i just REALLY didn't like the feel of the controllers, too big an bulky. This, coupled with the fact that the PS consoles generally look better meant that i was only more likely to stick with Sony

...so inevitably I was going to be a Blu supporter (thanks to the PS3)
The fact that Blu-Ray is, feature for feature the better option anyways (ie bigger disc space, more disc surface protection etc), is just a nice bonus.

I for one will NOT be buying into HD as well, I'd rather just keep the upscaled DVD's for now.

It would take a really good media centre type device for me to cave to HD and so far a Hybrid player is NOT enough

Default Format Neutral Mean BD and HD-DVD's death

There is no question in my mind that if dual formats continue, they will both die. Right now I can watch 300 on Comcast HD On Demand. Yes the audio is DD 5.1 and the video is compressed. Ask 99% of the population if they care. I can get this for $5.99 without getting up off of my couch, buying any new hardware (and making my head hurt trying to decide what to buy) or rewiring my system.

I firmly believe that the only chance for HD disk media to succeed is Blu-ray. Both means continued consumer confusion and eventual death for both.

As it is, I buy nothing Microsoft unless forced to. I will buy nothing with Toshiba's name on it and my plan to by an Onkyo 705 will not happen since they are selling HD-DVD hardware. I will essential buycott anyone who supports the format.

paramount is weak. Not just because of selling us out. I could care less about dreamworks, and transformers was for pre-pubescent boys. We have Pixar, who needs shrek. Eddie Murphy went from Delirious to a donkey what a tragic fall.

I will never buy a Toshiba product ever again. I will never support HD DVD. Blu-ray or bust for me.
