Couldn't the "video resolution" of "1080i" be renamed to "1080/60i" since there is already a 1080/50i option?
Also couldn't the name "video resolution" be changed to "video format" since both 1080p and 1080/60i and 1080/50i have the same spatial resolution? |

Hi I was trying to add a speaker to you home theater database, but the manufacturer was not listed. The name of the company is Zu Audio and here is a link to their web site for reference. http://www.Zuaudio.com Thanks

Just my 2 cents. ;-) Quote:
It's 1080p, 1080i, 1080p50, 1080i50, etc... Not 1080/50i. The 50Hz is not interlaced, it's the 1080 lines that are interlaced. So 1080i50 reads as "1080 line interlaced at 50 Hz". Regarding your second request: I don't think you actually checked out the list, because if you did you would've noticed that 720p is also present. That makes the use of "video resolution" the best option. Besides that... "video format" actually refers more to the video codec (and is used as such on a lot of website), like MPEG-4 AVC, VC-1 or MPEG-2. Your request would make it even less obvious what it points to. Third reason is that the 1080i resolution is arguably better than 720p. And although it technically contains 1080 lines, the fact that it uses an interlaced method of playback you can say that a 1080i60 comes near to 1080p30, but remains different. I won't go into which one is better, hundreds of forums are filled with this discussion, I just want to point out that it remains a resolution and there are a lot of differences between them. Last note on your whole story: if you want to see 1080i60 added, you ought to opt for a complete list: 1080i50 1080i60 1080p24 1080p25 1080p50 1080p60 I know there are some more 1080 resolutions, but these remain the most common. And you can even argue the commonness of 1080p25. ;-) |

For one, the EBU (the biggest broadcasting union in the world) standard uses 1080/50i or 1080i25 to describe 50 interlaced fields per second (25 full frames per second), and 1080i30 and 1080/60i (NEVER 1080i60 to describe 60 interlaced fields per sec). Show me a broadcasting standard which shows these are incorrect. Quote:
Since there is no 1080p25, 1080p50 or 1080p60 in the Blu-ray spec, there would be no point having those in the options to say a Blu-ray title has been encoded in that way, unless they ever get added to the spec. Last edited by 4K2K; 06-12-2010 at 09:07 PM. |

If that's the case just don't hit the "Update Gallery" button after adding your gear. When you edit a single picture it automatically defaults the order to 1. When you add a piece of gear it updates to your gallery as soon as you hit the add button, there is no need to hit update gallery. Edit: hmm nevermind, seems that this was already fixed from when I had played with it a few days ago. |

Yeah I know but it seems not fair to leave out a member of the family in the photo....
![]() My obsolete HDTV rear projection tv 720p is included. My obsolete receiver, no HD audio decoder is also included. But my Oppo DVD player with HDMI 1.3 isn't included. After all it can upconvert to 1080p. ![]() |

Also, what about an On-wall, In-wall, In-ceiling speaker category? Last edited by callas01; 06-13-2010 at 03:17 PM. |

thanks for the quote Mr. F, may i kindly ask for a link to the original thread?
for what its worth, i think it would be beneficial to have a separated area for monitors or bookshelves due to its differences compared to floorstanding speakers. May i ask for a dedicated section for - Headphones? Too much to ask for turntables right... ![]() |
