Lightbulb (Adding to) Home Theater Database and Wiki System Help Thread

Home Theater Database and Wiki System

This thread is dedicated to Blu-ray.com's Home Theater Database and Wiki system. The HTDB works like a restricted Wiki, if you are a member you can update- or add any movies, games, hardware etc. If you have a big interest in a specific category/area, you can also become a Contributor (basically a site admin). We are always in need of nice and knowledgeable people, so please let us know
Read the official announcement for further information.

Questions? Concerns?
Ask here, One of the forum mods or developers will help you through the updating process. No question is a bad question

Couple Hints:
  • When adding new movie from a similar movie in DB, try and use current entries as reference.
  • Try and be complete with specs as you can
  • Ask for help if needed, I am usually always around at some point
Looking to add a product?

Submitting Images- Images can now be submitted via the wiki system, Please use the BEST Quality Image possible and Please use the front cover art in the Blu-ray case. Images can be submitted by clicking Edit Movie>Manage Covers> Select Image from Hard Drive and Submit. Make sure you uncheck the box in order to get the system to take the new image.

Submissions that have been done and added will be moved to and tracked on the https://forum.blu-ray.com/feedback-f...bmissions.html

How does one go about adding something to the database exactly?

As I noticed that the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition (OoP for PS3) is in the database, but the standard edition (still in production) is not there.

I assume all additions will be reviewed by mods or are they automatically added to the database?

Also, any way we can add artwork to movies? And Amazon (or exclusive retailer) website links?

This is phenomenal! Great work, guys.

The submissions are reviewed by mods before approved, otherwise we risk havoc in the database
The mods get automatic notifications of pending updates and so far we have been approving submissions within seconds or minutes, so this should hopefully only be a minor annoyance for members.

We are investigating possible security issues with uploading images, but it's very possible that you will see this function as well in a near future

Any particular reason some games have specific dates listed but others have just the year?

I noticed this when I checked out the listing Jw helped me out with for The Force Unleashed, I noticed the year said 2009 (year of the special edition) instead of 2008 (year of original) so I selected the edit option to submit the change for approval, but didn't know how to put the specific date. Uncharted 2, Burnout Paradise and others also have just the year, while Uncharted 1, Batman: AA and others have dates.

Was wondering what's up with that

Only admins have priorly been able to set an exact release date since this is potentially sensitive information, however, this seem to be an issue/limitation especially for PS3 games, so we have opened up this field as well for editing.

What is the intention of being able to add your HT equipment to your gallery pics? Is this for easy reference for other members?

Short answer: to turn the galleries into HT equipment collections and make them more fun and interesting.

Long answer from the news post:

By linking the home theater galleries directly to listings in the home theater database, it will be much easier to see what gear someone is using and to learn more about it. Simply look at the products that they have tagged below the photos in the gallery and click through to get specs, reviews, etc. This also allows for interesting information, like how many are using certain equipment, how they are using it, with what other equipment, in what environment etc. So if you are for example (again) interested in receivers, you can go to a specific receiver and you will see how many members have it in their gallery. You can then go to each member and see how it's set up, discuss the gear and what they think about it etc.

Hey iceman,

I may have found a bug with the tagging feature. When I've selected a specific region in my settings (such as the UK or CA or whatever) I am unable to tag any of my gear in the gallery. The drop down menu doesn't respond when I've selected a category.

Hope I've explained that clearly enough. It's definitely a very minor bug but just wanted to let you guys know.

Great catch, I always use custom settings so I haven't stumbled upon this myself, thanks for reporting, fixed

What about editing movies allready in the DB? like adding subtitles, audio tracks and so on?

I was adding a movie and I hit one of the many submit buttons without filling out the rest of the fields? any way for me to add the rest of the info?

Will RPTV be added to the HDTV types or is it being considered dead tech so no? I see OLED in there but really who as one of those... yet?
