Actually I'm sure Lucas has at least some say, being the creator. The production studio is Lucasfilm, the distributor is Paramount, whilst Star Wars' distributor is Fox. I'm sure Lucas' views more than matter to them. Altough as you say it's Spielberg helmed, and Lucas has virtually total control over his Star Wars franchise.

I think GL wanted to digitally add Jar Jar Binks to Raiders, specifically in the Well of Souls...it was quickly shot down!

Those pics look great, I have a strong feeling this set will really shine. Could be a very big seller for Paramount. I'd rate the films:

Raiders 10/10
Temple 8/10
Crusade 9/10
Skull 6/10

Maybe it's nostalgia because Temple was the first Indy movie I ever saw on HBO (got to watch Crusade in theaters with my family when I was a kid), but I've never felt the negativity towards Temple - I like the location, the characters, and the dark fantasy setting. But Raiders has that overall perfect blend.

I like all four films, and basically rate them in the order they were released (from Raiders down to Skull).

I've never understood people's whining about scenes like the nuked fridge (which I thought was really funny) or the mine car chase (which is hella exciting and fun). Indy is a comic book hero, like Batman. He's supposed to be engaged in insane feats of daring do.

To each his own I guess. I can't wait to have this box set!

Could spoiler tags be added to the images? They're kinda messing up the appearance on my monitor.

KOTCS is actually my favorite sequel. I think they're all really good (with Raiders being by far the best), but I'd put Last Crusade last. It's probably the funniest one, but it's too much of a retread of Raiders.

Heh. For the folks who've done the 'is it green?' joke already, take a look at the first shot of the Last Crusade comparison...

Your comment is ridiculous. Would you rather the Indy Jones BDs were released NOT looking as good as they could look?

That would have been tinkering. The changes he made to E.T. were tinkering.

However, Making the picture look as good as possible is NOTHING for any intelligent person to carp about.

It very well may have just been a hair darker than it originally was when he viewed it for approval and that was the only note he had for them to correct. Again, I saw the new restoration last night and I certainly didn't notice anything amiss in that scene or anywhere else (and no one else would without some dumb quote floating around the internet). There's been no changes to the color timing, they haven't replaced any of the effects with digital redos, the fly still flys into Belloq's mouth... They didn't CHANGE the movie and, to me, that's what Spielberg is talking about.
Exactly.

Raiders: 10/10 (not one for going over)
Temple: 6/10 (Still probably my least favorite, to include Crystal Skull...I hate Short Round and the Mine scene was a bit much)
Last Crusade: 9/10 (I enjoyed the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery)
Crystal Skull: 7/10 (I enjoyed this film more than I thought I would. I was pleasantly surprised. Again, keeping in mind the genre.
I agree with this but I'd give Temple of Doom an 8 and Crystal Skull a 7.5. But I actually enjoy The Last Crusade more compared to Raiders of the Lost Ark more due to being the first Indiana Jones film I saw in theaters and has more repeated viewings for me. It's the Ford and Connery Father and Son chemistry though along with everything else.
My local cinema were showing the Trilogy three weeks in a row, on Thursday of the week, in release order but The Last Crusade still has me grinning ear-to-ear. I still consider, in a way, Temple of Doom to be the follow-up feature to GUNGA DIN. Yes all due to a throwaway line.
Who am I kidding? I enjoy all of the Indiana Jones films but I have them in "in-series" chronological order.

LEGEND is a far superior film compared to the entire American Ninja films.

Damn that looks great! The WOWOW shots for The Last Crusade are a bit too "sunburned" red to my liking. But of course these are only HDTV boradcast shots and most assuredly Spielberg on Blu-ray will strike yet again.

I don't have to worry about anything for the transfers for the Trilogy set or the sound, I'm only worried about whether or not many of the extra features, including those still technically in LucasFilm Archives, will be ported over. Oh and also hoping each film has two discs per KotCS, MINORITY REPORT and Saving Private Ryan. Still wishing the boxset will have some exclusive bonus features discs.

EDIT: I still ought to work, not really working, on purchasing the rest of the Indiana Jones posters!

If you have a PS3 you can save the pictures directly to the hard drive and view it on your TV. It really looks amazing.
Am i the only one not impressed by those screenshots to me the colors look to bland and dull. Does anybody know if they color corrected theses movies while they were doing the new transfers.

Guys, there is a spoiler tag that you should use when quoting a post w/ huge pictures!

My ratings, just for the hell of it.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10
Temple of Doom - 7/10
Last Crusade - 9/10
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 8/10

No. Spielberg mentioned he only brightened a shot and these appear to be shots which were based upon the 2003 DVD release (I'm still assuming it's what they're using, the HD versions, for HDTV broadcast). Not every single Blu-ray needs to be as eye-gouging and overly vibrant as Avatar. Still expecting Spielberg to have 4K masters to work from for the Blu-ray release. Just look at every single Spielberg release on Blu-ray.
Why should these films be color corrected? Otherwise we'd get another The French Connection scenario on our hands. Goes for more of the aesthetic feel of the time period these films take place in. But I still don't care for the "sunburned" red skintones.
Of course I'm expecting an extremely high bitrate for all three films to be individual BD50s per the other Spielberg films on Blu which received its own disc for the film and others for the extras.

Rudeboy2025. I agree exactly with your ratings but it's an alternating toss-up between Temple of Doom and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for rating. Whenever I have the feel for an Indiana Jones marathon, I always play GUNGA DIN first then each film in "year" order (1935, 1936, 1938, 1957). More fitting since the Thuggee Cult is in GUNGA DIN and is the perfect set-up for Temple of Doom.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10

Agreed! this is pretty much how I rated them (though I was a tad harsher on Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull)

Love the quality on the remaster, will hopefully be even better on disc!

And since everyone else is rating the series, ..., I'm doing it aswell!

Raiders of the Lost Ark: 11/10
Temple of Doom: 10/10
Last Crusade: 10/10
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: 9/10

Raiders is obviously the best and a masterpiece, but all of the sequels are amazing as well.

That's right! I'm a fan-boy and proud of it!

Exactly how I feel!

But I think the WOWOW screenshots are based more on a better quality HD master based upon the ones made for the 2003 DVDs. But just imagine the WOWOW with more film-grain/higher bitrate, possibly less "sunburn" skin-tone along with better detail derived from a 4K (it's immensely possible) remaster i.e. the awesomeness which was Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan (because both are Paramount) on a BD50 with AVC along with DTS-HD MA. Final result is you have the three Indiana Jones films looking the best it has ever looked possible on a home media format.
At least until Holographic Versatile Disc is a reality.

DAMMIT I still want GUNGA DIN on Blu-ray for the proper marathoning! there's also Secret of the Incas, I think it's the name of it, starring Charleton Heston as a prototypical Indiana Jones. Even right down to the outfit. If I keep looking up stuff for it I'd even want it on Blu-ray also, still Paramount, AND High Road to China!

EDIT: Have you read the books, comics and played the video games? If you have or planning on doing so, these are the smileys which would best describe how I feel for other Indiana Jones fans as dedicated.

Now that I've had some time to think about it I think my favorite line is from Raiders:

"What are you gonna do?"

"I dunno. I'm making this up as I go.
