Agreed. When I upgraded my VHS to DVD I was wondering what was going on regarding the sound.

Love the original heavy sounding 'computer noise' when seeing The Terminator's HUD and was annoyed it had been heavily toned down in the remix. Especially noticable when Arnie shoots the cop through the wall in the police station. Always thought the gunfire blended into the 'computer noise' very well and then topped off with the plaster in the wall exploding. Love the mono

As a big Terminator fan myself, is it embarassing to admit I've never heard the original mono mix?!

But I want to however!

I'll have to check that scene out and compare. The one that always did it for me was when Arnold busts into the wrong Sarah Connor house and shoots her. The gun sounds TERRIBLE compared to the original track.

Play originally listed this as being released in november and I got an email stating that the date has changed to the 14-May-2012 and looking on the BVA site it lists that as well.

Time will tell what is the original date cause I looked on amazons and they have the november site but play only sent the info in an email to me today so the date on amazons site was correct as it was put up and just changed or it will be a november release date so time will tell.

Either way been looking foreward to this release for a while to complete my terminator collection.

I want to hear the mono mix too. I also want to watch it in 4:3 aspect ratio on a 14" black and white tv...

And on VHS?

Where the tape always went all jumpy during the sex scene, because you kept rewinding it?

Naughty boy!

The upgraded soundmix on all the DVDs and Blu has been edited. The sound effects for the guns etc all sound worse so thats why people want the original sound mix from VHS and laserdisc so they get the original sound effects which actually were better.

Why is that? The re-mix will undoubtedly be on the Blu Ray. All the people who like the mono just want it as an option at the main menu

People who don't understand why we want the mono worry me!

If the studios can create a 5.1 mix that retains the integrity of the original score and effects then more power to them. Otherwise, give the consumer a choice.

hey, VHS is making a comeback! There is something kind of retro-cool about watching The Terminator on an ex-rental VHS tape (including big box!) that is just plain fun, and watching it on a 4:3 television completes the experience!

The 5.1 remix is terrible. too many fake sound FX dubbed in

prefer the Mono mix until they do a decent 5.1 remix

(happened with the original Transformers cartoon as well)

just because it's on Blu-ray doesn't automatically make it the definitve edition in terms of Picture and Sound

There are quite a few DVD's i've held onto since the BD version doesn't come close to original colour timing (The French Connection) or sound mix (Terminator as discussed)

I really don't like the think cases, wasting space. (5 of 'em just fitting where 7 normal cases fit.... so if you have space for 500 UK BD cases, you could line ~700 Movies in finer, slimmer cases.)

I agree, I wish the UK had thinner cases because at the moment they take up too much room on my shelf.

Also I know we all want this release asap but I would rather wait for a Cameron approved version even if it takes another year. It would be worth it.

Yeah I hope for a better transfer either. I have the US BD Disc and some DVD Versions (3 different German DVDs, 1 HK DVD).

Also I wish it would have a LPCM mono option, and maybe one day they redo the 5.1 mix with the original audio insteat of sloppy exchanges...
