But if TWO studios release vintage titles, then Paramount will ideally get jealous and remaster Friday 13th 3.
Which means now THREE studios will be doing it, and releasing vintage titles will be officially declared "Normal".

(Not to mention, the studios with the capability to release vintage titles will remember there were also a few cult titles that came out in the 80's, and it wasn't all Black Lagoon and House of Wax--
If Universal had come out first with Jaws, the problem would've been the other way around.)

Okay, but Universal hasn't released anything or actually announced it, so that means we're still in the "Warner is a kook" phase.

Default Not Yet for Jaws 3D (refering part 3)

I contacted universal and request if there was any chances that we will see Jaws 3D release pretty soon. The answer was no at the moment and there is nothing in the horizon yet. Let's hope that they will release soon and please if you want to see it contact Universal and make a request to see this third part in 3D. With Dial M for Murder in 3D like someone said who knows maybe the other studio will release their vintage 3D movies if still existing more quickly. Remeber Warner said that it wanted to release those vintage he had in stock 15 titles in total it owns now but waited to get a better way of relasing them in 3D and with Blu-ray 3D format that time is here. Thank you Warner show the way to the other studios.

Sounds fishy. Seems like Universal harpooned Jaws 3D right out of the water.

If it came, it was SUPPOSED to come as part of a boxset of the three other sequels, and #1 would be available with or without boxset.

Since we haven't had an announcement yet for that either, think they're just going to enjoy the original's status as a 100th Anniversary Studio Icon, and we won't get the marketable boxset of less sellable films until the second go-round.
Don't know when that'll be, but since you generally don't see Jaws being released during the winter, I'm guessing it'll be more than six months from now.

At least Universal's got the frenzy over Creature in the Monsters boxset at the moment, so we're past getting them over the hump.

The rumor was that Spielberg wanted his "classic" separated from any of the sequels. I'm betting we'll have to wait until next year and then we'll get a big boxed set.

I don't think this release was ever happening in the first place. Just some fan having fun with Photoshop.

That wasn't the source. It was that Universal 100 list that leaked VERY early this year that has been almost COMPLETELY correct.

Does anyone know where that list can been seen? I am interested to find out what is coming out over the rest of the year.

I really hope Friday 3D is released in the proper format. I own a 35mm polarized print of this title but it's missing reel #1

I don't hate 3D,... I think it's fun. Now, granted it's used to make just OK movies watchable and so Jaws is bad "fit" but it just gives something new and after all this time I think that's fine.

Honestly if I had a chance to see a revisionist George Lucas Version with the latest special effects, I would watch that too.

Jaws is always going to be fun but you can never take it too serious.

I like Jaws 2 ... too.

Good points. Movies are great entertainment, but sometimes people take things a little too far as fans. As long as we still get the original version in the best resolution, we have a choice. I could see if they didn't give a choice, that would be a different story.

The original Jaws in 3D. Sounds interesting if it happens. I would first bite for the filmed 3D Jaws though, as I prefer filmed 3D versus converted 3D, but I'd still keep an open mind to see it first, before dismissing it as possibly inferior 3D.

A digital screening of Jaws 3D just happened at a film festival. There will be a 3D BD now.

The "When" being "When the coast is clear to re-release Jaws 1 without the snooty 100th Anniversary label".
Which would likely be next year, and safe guess says summer.

Um, that's nice--
Are you saying Universal IS releasing it, or they released art for an additional separate 2-D, or hinting they must've probably canceled the rumored 3-D from the delayed sequel boxset, or it's a fan Photoshop mockup and not the themed "matching" boxset-rerelease covers that showed up on CinemaNow, or.....?

A year later into the thread, how about a little visit from Our Friend Context?
