By far the best article yet, finally explains the Thermite Rifle. There's artwork for every weapon/gadget. Quote:

![]() The Order 1886 targeting fall 2014 release date Ready At Dawn has indicated that it's targeting a fall 2014 release date for The Order: 1886. The launch window was alluded to in a Twitter exchange between Ready At Dawn co-founder and chief technology officer Andrea Pessino and Sony Santa Monica's director of technology Tim Moss. Quote:

I didn't spot it in earlier posts, but anyone have more information on whether the Order 1886 will be an open world adventure action game? Just hoping it's not separated into levels as some open map games, but instead is a seamless map of the alternate London to explore at will.

Open world does not necessarily mean a game will be good. |

This is true, but if done right, it can enhance the immersion experience. However, not every game really needs it. Just a little extra space can make a world of difference. Games that have large levels like Crysis and the original Far Cry are perfect for a shooter. It's nice to have several ways to complete a mission. Gives it a higher replay value. Open world games are good for quest games.

I like to think that the game should be whatever the studio feels best fits the story and what it is trying to achieve.
Sometimes you have titles like Uncharted that wouldn't have benefitted from being open world while the content of GTA fits open world like a glove. It also depends on what content the game will contain. Imo, The Order 1886 looks like it could easily manage open world if they add in enough activities to justify why you should travel around. Imagine a situation where your travelling around the London streets and see a person acting all shifty and wearing a 'mark' that signifies the creatures you are hunting and you follow him/her and if done stealthily you end up back at their hideout and can choose to engage them at a later time and gather more information to understand the enemy. All this is conjecture of course and depends if Witcher style story telling and gameplay elements become a part of the game. Elder Scrolls games work in open world spe ifically because the content is BUILT to tailor to that type of game world rather than something more linear. |

I don't think I have ever gone through an open world game more then once. But all the Uncharted and God of War games I have gone through each game many times.. |

Oh, this is tomorrow... I'd love to check it out but I already have too many games on my schedule. Definitely keeping it in mind though, if I do decide to pick up another game...
Can't wait to see what the game play footage looks like. Maybe I'll have the sudden urge to get it once I see it in action. |
