Only thing about Xtra-Vision is the way they open up the steelbooks before placing them on the shelf for sale- really ghetto!

Xtra-Vision is in Southern Ireland (Republic). Blurays get released there the Friday before the Monday release day in the UK.
Makes a lot of sense really as I'm sure a lot of people would love to pick up some new release movies for the weekend. Many people also get paid on a Friday and I'd imagine more people would be in a better mood Friday and more likely to part with their cash.

Yeah, they are always scratched up in my local store!

There is an Oblivion steelbook (€30 ) with the most awful dents I have ever seen, it has been just sitting on the shelf since it was first released.

No sign of the steelbook in my local Sainsburys but then they never sell them. The free book with standard BD or DVD was not well publicised unless you already knew of the offer. They had a big pile of the books with a sticker attached saying free with DVD or BD, but no labelling on the DVDs or BDs themselves.

Thanks FilmFanSam. Will look to pick this up this week - was just concerned Universal wouldn't give this as good a treatment as Paramount but you've put my mind at ease!

Why does everybody seem to think that? I have never seen Universal screw up that badly, and to be honest, most of their screw ups appear to be just giving us something worse than another country, I've not seen anything truly awful from them in recent years....

I was more concerned about copious dubs etc... sacrificing the quality of the picture. I know Uni are generally just as excellent as others with new releases but just wanted to double check since I do have the choice of either region.

You could have worked out in advance that wouldn't be the case. Universal only has rights for Scandinavia, Germany, Spain and the UK & Ireland. And Scandinavians always get subtitles rather than dubs.

Also, Universal have been nice enough to give us all the bonus features as standard, unlike Paramount, which we had known for some time...
