S2 and S3 were actually cheaper WITH the DVDs than the first season was WITHOUT the DVDs. So the argument of "including DVDs makes it more expensive" is moot. The inclusion of DVDs/digital copies doesn't affect the price.

Indeed. Between that, the digital copies, and the useless bonus discs I've paid a grand total if 15$ for all 3 seasons so far. Its going to be weird paying more then that for one season, lol.

For season 3, I mistakenly received two digital copy codes with my set from Best Buy. After selling both of those and the DVDs, I paid a grand total of -$2.00.

It's odd that the press release states that it's 5 discs:

Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season
Blu-ray with Digital Copy, DVD
Street Date: February 17, 2015
Rating: TV-MA
Runtime: Approx. 600 minutes (not including extra features)
Price: $79.98 Blu-ray with Digital Copy (5 BD Discs)
Price: $59.99 DVD (5 Discs)

My best so far was season 2, at a 7$ profit. Season 1 actually cost me the most so far until now. Still, averaging out to 5$ a season I'm not complaining. If season 4 goes on sale for 30$ like the other ones have with a bonus disc , might still be able to get it for 10 or so dollars.

Hopefully the press release is correct and the picture is just a work in progress.

That's exactly why studios are dropping DVDs from BD sets.

If Best Buy doesn't release new slips I'm definitely getting the Target version for the Beautiful Death book!

They're probably waiting on final cover art. After all, the BD is more than half a year away, lol...

DOH! I think people were referring to the a few posts up, with the tvshowsondvd link. I thought they were talking about the Target edition.

Ah, okay.

Target.com is funny. They like to post pictures with that "TARGET EXCLUSIVE" sticker attached to the product. They posted pix of the Walking Dead Season 4 Steelbook but then reposted pix with the sticker attached, lol...

It's probably going to be the same size as the initial release of S1.

+1 I like the DVD's to be included, so if any of my friends or family want to borrow them, they get those, not the Blu-rays. So it's been confirmed that season 4 doesn't include them? If so, that's a bummer.

I usually don't pre-order from Amazon because they usually don't lower the price until close to release week when they start price matching other retailers. But I'm in a crazy mood today and decided to pre-order this season just to see if I can get a good deal from their Pre-Order Price Guarantee. Let's see how low the price gets between now and release date....
