Good evening.

Another October has chanced upon us, and, as usual, we have begun to turn our attention to cold weather pursuits. But as the air turns colder, we might find ourselves turning to a good fright in order to keep ourselves warm during those chilly fall nights. This year, for our annual Halloween horror marathon, we offer up thrills that are beyond a Shadow Of A Doubt, a veritable Frenzy of Notorious killers, marauding monsters, and other things that go bump in the night. And while some films may be strictly for The Birds, I'm sure that some of the Psychos on display are bound to raise little gooseflesh. The slash of a knife in a darkened room might result in a Torn Curtain or two, someone may be buried in his Family Plot before his allotted time has expired, and strangulation with a knotted length of Rope is not altogether out of the question. There are enough death scenarios present in this year's lineup of shock cinema that they're bound you leave you Spellbound with Vertigo. And, I Confess, as always, that you can enjoy all of these films from the comfort of your own home theater. I promise you nothing but entertainment, an escape from all your problems...[leans forward]...as it was for me.

This year's Halloween horror marathon is dedicated to the memories of Christopher Lee and Wes Craven...thanks for the decades' worth of sleepless nights, gents.

9/22/15 - Hatchet (2007) - What can I say about this gem of a throw back. Pays great homage to the 80's slashers as it tried to do. Love the lead actress and loved the blend of horror/comedy. Victor Crowley is one of my fav horror icons now. This was my 3rd or 4th viewing of the film. Definite recommendation, especially if you love old school slasher films.

Gonna try my hardest to catch a free screening of American Werewolf in London that's happening a few towns over on Monday. I'll have to get there early to reserve a space.

Devil Dog was a made for TV movie that premiered in American living rooms Halloween night 1978. Dick Crenna, best known as Colonel Trautman from the Rambo movies, plays a man whose family becomes possessed by a satanic German Sheppard. The children are played by Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann who also played brother and sister in Disney's Witch Mountain films. I found the story entertaining, as a TV movie should be. The special effects were my only complaint, they were really bad. The Highight

This month marks the 55th anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" & I'm thrilled to finally have a chance to see it on the big screen! I first saw this iconic film when I was 6 years old and have watched it every year since. Now 25 years later and dozens of viewings from VHS to DVD to Bluray to Digital Streaming, I get to at last see it the way it was always meant to be seen! 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪😎😎😎😎😎🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

What's up CZAR, Blu Myers (formerly Leem6453) here. As you know slashers are my favorite genre, but I could never get into Hatchet. Have you seen See No Evil 1 and 2? Oh, and love your avatar.

Bro I definitely think you should check out the 2nd See No Evil. It's even better than the first. I'll have to give Hatchet another go. Sent you a pm.

I love the Hatchet movies!! I was barely able to finish See No Evil 2, and I thought it was unbearable at times. IMO, it doesn't hold a candle to the first one.

I will agree that it got better, but to me it didn't have the creepiness factor of the first. Maybe I'll give it another watch and see if I like it better.

Thanks!

Dr. Heidegger's Experiment was pretty boring same with Rappaccini's Daughter but I did enjoy The House of the Seven Gables...it had that gothic, atmospheric vibe I enjoy.

The Brothers Grimm -

Not really a horror movie, but if ABC Family can include Harry Potter and The Hunger Games in their line-up, then I can include this one in mine since there actually some spooky elements. I really like the concept of this movie and it actually starts off very well. But once they get to the village that is
[Show spoiler]actually under the curse of the witch
then it starts to lose its traction. It starts to try to turn itself into an action movie that's all over the place, plus I felt that they tried to cram in as many fairy tales into the movie as they could even if it really didn't make sense (i.e. the "Gingerbread Man"). Not to mention, almost all the CGI was absolutely horrid. Now, I think Heath Ledger and Matt Damon were both fine in their parts, it's just too bad that everything in the movie after the beginning wasn't.

I'll definitely be doing this again this year, had a lot of fun with it over the past few years. Was putting together a list of Blu-ray & DVDs the other day, to make it easier to post progress later.
I've done blu-ray only before (2013, 30 blu + 1 HD-DVD), but this year if I only have the DVD and I want to watch it, I'm going to. Last few years complete lists (usually post in UK Last Watched/Bought Thread);

I watched Halloween 4 last night for the first time in a few years.

It's pretty good...but seems to be missing something that holds it back.

Not exactly sure what that is.

It's a well made slasher movie, but there no scene that stands out as being particularly scary or memorable imo.
