I have the arrow release and it's very good, but I want the cut I saw on DVD in same quality.

USA The 'Burbs - 5/24/16

Finally! I have been waiting for this to come stateside for years. It's currently back on Netflix, but I have wanted this in my collection for a long time. It says it's a Best Buy exclusive. Current pre-order price on bes buy's website is $9.99 + shipping. Doesnt look like store pick up is an option (wouldn't think it would be an option, but would have been nice if it was).

Anyway, excited to have this Tom Hanks classic in my hands soon. :-)

That would be fantastic. I count myself lucky I found it on dvd years ago, but I've a feeling that's probably all we'll ever get.

I really want Joe Dante's film Matinee on BluRay. Similar tone to The Burbs. Can't wait for my Burbs Blu from Best Buy though!

I bought my region-free player specifically for Arrow's release of The 'Burbs and have been meaning to pick up the French Blu-ray of Matinee for a while now (curious why it has a different title there since I believe "matine'" is French). I love that it includes Mant! as an extra.

I love this movie. I bought the Aussie release last year. One thing I find funny though, even though I watch movies from all era's which contain different styles and fashions and can appreciate it, the hair cuts of Corey Feldman and his friends make me laugh HARD. Pause some of the scenes with them in it if you can't remember! Also, Feldman's posturing and over acting are a turn off for me, even though I'm a huge Stand By Me, Goonies and Lost Boys Fan.

Besides that, this movie is completely enjoyable and deserves more credit that it receives.

I've read that some Best Buys have pretty much phased them out entirely. The one I go to (Modesto, CA) still has them but the sections have noticeably dwindled over the years, and the selection has been getting smaller and smaller.

Well I'm glad they are still in tact where I live. If that's the case.

I can't imagine a Best Buy store without the movie section. I probably would have no need to ever go to BB if that happens. But it gets me thinking that sooner or later all physical copies of movies and music will be gone from all stores completely. That makes me sad.

I think they based it on sales. I've noticed some stores near me West Hollywood and Burbank have a large selection, while some like Woodland Hills it is cut down quite a bit. If sales are strong enough they will support it more than those that aren't.

THIS is true, but the Best Buys around me in Oklahoma still have a decent DVD/Blu-ray section. Nowhere near where it was even five years ago, but the sections are large enough that it's pretty easy to get most big releases from the last two or three years, along with the latest catalogue titles, movie cash/seasonal/promo titles, and definitely most if not all Best Buy exclusives.

While the physical media sections have been dwindling in general, CDs have gone faster around me than the BDs and DVDs. The CD section that was multiple aisles in 2011 is pretty much just one aisle at most locations around me now. In my experience, pretty much only good for buying the big recent releases of the last year or so and then classic best sellers.

Does anyone have a rough idea as to how long I should expect to wait until this becomes widely available? I'd prefer to wait until I can get it from Amazon (preferably the Canadian site)... Thanks!

That's not so bad, I think I can live with that... I've waited this long already.
Thanks!
