Mine looks the same (the little picture lines up okay), but the MARVEL Studios logo is a different size and the title is weirdly sized, it needed a bit of rejigging to fit on the spine, as it's quite small, they have made it one line of text.

Heck, some of them will continue to argue that not all UK sets are region free and that Zavvi's discs must have different coding than the items that Amazon sells. How many times has the bluray.com database listing of " Region B (A, C untested)" been cited as proof that an item is region locked?

Most of us here could blindly predict which items will be free or locked at a far higher accuracy rate, but it just doesn't matter since Amazon lists it as B.

My zavvi steel is region free

Really enjoyed it, lacked the originality of the first but that was a given. It's not as well paced but it has more emotional resonance, it's not a bad trade off.

The big manufacturers are definitely sending out a clear message to consumers.
Just had a look on Amazon out of curiosity at the 3d sets available, and they're definitely starting to run dry. Looking at the specs, they seem to be rather lacking in connectivity too. My Sony has four hdmi, a scart, and phono connections, all of which I use. Newer sets don't seem to have anything near this. My TVs needs to have some kind of tv immortality, cause I'll miss more than the 3d when it packs up.

Some of the new Samsung TVs only have digital connections, so they've dropped everything apart from HDMI and digital optical outputs. You can buy boxes to pump analogue singles into your TV through HDMI, but it's an extra expense and power socket.

Problem with that is that it limits setting options. Each of my inputs is set differently. I hVe an upscaling vhs machine, as I still like my tapes, and also a WiiU. The settings I need for those differ considerably from what I use for DVD and blu-Ray.

I'd have to be endlessly manually changing settings if I had everything just going into two inputs

Although I think LG TVs still have analogue inputs, you can (most other manufacturers offer this as well) change picture modes with one input, so for the LG you could use standard, cinema, ISF Bright and ISF Dark for four different inputs and calibrate accordingly. You can use the other presets as well, but things like Vivid do remove some custom settings.

I remember reading that someone who worked in a cinema said the difference between a 2D movie and a 3D movie was simply the push of a button.

Is it really that hard for manufacturers include 3D in a television? I still see lots of 3D blu rays in shops so there must be a decent audience for them.

Sure, but there isn't a completely new range of cinema projectors released every year that cinema owners feel the need to upgrade for, unlike with TVs, so 3D is here to stay in a theatrical sense (although you may have heard that IMAX are cutting down 3D showings to offer more 2D). There's no real technical impediment to putting 3D in a TV although you do need specific panels for active and for passive you need a special filter placed on the screen. In either case the TV manufacturers are happy to save themselves those fractions of money/effort by leaving out 3D for this latest production cycle.

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it but did think the first one was far and away the better movie. Also
[Show spoiler]Were we really supposed to be heartbroken that Michael Rooker died and Peter Quill had his true father figure under his nose all along? I mean didn't Yondu still treat him pretty poorly all his life?

I don't think
[Show spoiler]Yondo treated him poorly compared to Ravager standards. He was probably the best Dad he could have had, once he'd been taken off Earth. Yondo brought him up with the intention of been able to survive the lifestyle. But compared to his upbringing with his Mum, Peter would have perceived he was treated poorly
.

I watched Vol. 2 last night, enjoyed it. I thought it was fun, and wonderfully colourful. Nice to see a Marvel movie with such pop, they've been pretty drab so far more or less, but with Thor Ragnarok and Vol. 2 , hopefully we'll see some serious comic book visuals from here on out.

I went through literally hundreds of LP and SP tapes a few months back and I honestly wasn't horrified with the quality. It was what it was, some of the SP content was perfectly watchable and I was only a few feet away. Sure the whole point was to write down a list of movies to upgrade to DVD or BD (and bin the ones I have upgraded), but they were okay to sit through.

But they did make me appreciate DVD and BD and if I had a magic wand I'd wave it around until everything was in HD!

I still have a VHS player plugged into a CRT TV. Still got a fair few Scotch 4 hour tapes with movies and series recorded off TV that have never been released on VHS or DVD let alone BD. One of my prized recordings is The Godfather TV miniseries. I still have a soft spot for VHS as it allowed me, for the first time, to collect movies. Back in the day I probably had over 5000 movies on VHS, either bought or recorded off TV.

You were a bigger hoarder than me, My biggest regret is using LP instead of SP, but tapes could be a bit expensive.

I loved renting tapes and one feature I'd love to see is for catalogue titles to get the same trailers before the feature, it would be a trip back in time.

I was one of those guys that went through the TV Times and Radio Times before Christmas counting the films I was going to record and how many tapes I'd need.

Sorry, mate. I misread your original post, I hadn't spotted it was the UHD BD you referring to. The BDs seem to match fine.

And a Cliffhanger reunion.

I assume Stallone and Russell never crossed paths making this movie. I remember Stallone's story back when he was making The Expendables about trying to get Kurt Russell involved but Russell didn't return his call.
