Punisher: War Zone was entertaining and its action packed. Get you some hot buttered popcorn, check your brain at the door and enjoy the ride.

Had a blast watching this. It was nice that the movie drops you into the action right away, instead of taking time to build up the character. The HDR in the church was incredible and the audio was great. Felt like a breath of fresh air compared to recent superhero movies. Love the villains, especially the younger brother.

Rewatched after a long time. Looks great except for a bit juiced up HDR and a tiny bit of crushed blacks.

In my mind that is the look they wanted for this movie and I like it.

Well originally it was being conceived as a sequel to the 2004 Tom Jane film, which was pretty much nothing but build up! I think even Jonathan Hensleigh was planning on setting his sequel up in New York and making it feel more like the comics, having gotten the origin out of the way (which the movie made way longer and more involved than it probably needed to be).
I’d be interested to know how far along they got in the writing process before it was scrapped, and how much if any ended up in War Zone. Fun fact: the younger brother was the very first X-Files “monster of the week” character, a guy named Tooms who could squeeze through vents and kill people

Do you think they could make the same movie today? I don't think Disney/Marvel would be willing to make this R rated movie today. I outright dismissed this movie originally until the How Did This Get Made podcast reviewed it. Despite them making fun of movies it made me seek out this gem of a movie. The director who was a Mortal Kombat tour dancer did not really want to make an action film but was told do an action film and then you will be able to do another movie. I don't think it worked in her case. The same podcast had the director on and it was interesting to hear about the backstory to making this movie.

I’m not sure, Deadpool 3 will reportedly be the first R-rated MCU movie so anything’s possible.
To be honest, I don’t actually like War Zone. I didn’t like the decision to start the movie with him accidentally killing a cop, and I thought the whole thing was too hokey. I get why people like it, because it’s a no-holds-barred violent grindhouse kinda vibe, but it doesn’t do much for me. I’m more interested in seeing Bernthal come back and how they would approach that.

The real question is… Would they deliberately make another movie that was heavily inspired by Batman 89? Something that people don’t notice about Warzone.

A bit of Schumacher, too, like the way they used neon colors in the set design.

Jigsaw’s suit at the end felt like Riddler’s weird costume changes.

When I first saw this in theaters and Jigsaw says his new name, I laughed cuz it reminded me of Nicholson saying "You can call me...Joker" lol.

War Zone is a fun dumb (dumb fun???) movie. Basically a pre-historic John Wick. Decent enough picture quality but the audio is mostly bass lite. But I suppose the finale makes up for it

Hard to believe this is 15 years old. What a glorious bloodbath of a movie! The style of Suspiria, and the gore of Fulci.

[Show spoiler]Disney ain't gonna make none of this. Yo.

I'm going to watch Tropic Thunder and this movie reminds me of that exactly because of your spoiler comment

Before the MCU really started taking off, I was really hoping they'd make an R-rated MCU just for adults and have Punisher team up with Blade and Ghost Rider. I think this was also before Snipes went to jail for tax evasion or whatever. I think Cage would've been down for it.
