It’s Paramount so there should be an Atmos mix (on both the standard and 4K discs).

For obvious reasons I hope mosley is correct!! But I would be very happy and surprised if this got a DTS 5.1 MA

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if BB somewhat underperforms in China. The Chinese audience really seems to enjoy big spectacle movies, like Fast&Furious, Warcraft, Aquaman, and all the Micheal Bay Transformers films. The thing about Bumblebee is that its very small scale compared to those films mentioned above. It will be interesting to see how the Chinese market takes to it.
Tracking at 55-65 M OW right now. It has a small scale but some comments left me believing (before watching it) that there was zero action in it, I'd say there's a good 20 min combined probably. It's obviously zilch compared to the Bayformers ones.

Hmmm. What were people saying about this hitting big in China?

Not too bad if that is predicted.

Dark of the Moon had a 56 million OW earning 165 million in total
Age of Extinction had a 92 million OW earning 320 million in total
Last Knight had a 120 million OW earning 229 in total

My guess is Bumblebee will do between 100-150 million there.

Right?!?!? lol id be shocked if BB turns a profit. Which is unfortunate, because I think this film is a great way to reboot the franchise.

Saw this over the weekend, it screamed for the Dolby theater but sadly Mary Poppins has that. Can imagine it will look fantastic as long as they don't botch the HDR. Too bad it isn't doing better at the box office but maybe the positive word of mouth will help it have legs?

That was pure joy, what an amazing transformation for a franchise.
I would say it's the best TF movie by far, but then I would invoke The Captain saying I was damming with faint praise.
It's not that, it's legit a fantastic film on it's own merits

Watched this in Vue Cinema few days back with.my family. Enjoyed it a lot. Less Bayhem. There was a hint of softness throughout. Sound was good but felt the surrounds weren't used effectively but it could down to the equipment used in the Cinema.

I would buy this in 4K UHD if it costs under £15.

The mix I thought was pretty old school and we'll used, it's not all loud noises like modern mixes

If it does then great, this movie is still gonna have a hell of a time breaking even theatrically and I just hope that Paramount don't panic, for when even mike says it's the greatest thing ever then you know he ain't messing around

That's weird because I thought the rear surround was great. There's a moment where one of the Decepticons is standing off-screen and their dialogue was delivered from behind which sounded great. It might have just been the equipment in your cinema.

I Agree, Though my Local Theater has trade-offs for certain rooms. I Saw Bumblebee and Aquaman the two consecutive days. Aquaman was shown on a Larger Screen, But the sound wasn't great. Bumblebee was shown on a smaller Screen, but allowed me to notice the Surround, particularly that scene.

I must admit 'Bumblebee' on the RPX screen at Regal Destiny visually was quite impressive, the 7.1 sound mix, eh... not so much. Gathering from what I've read here, the Atmos mix seems to be rather laid back, are the overhead height channels implemented that much? I'm kind of itchin' to resee this, but on a new AMC Prime screen that has Atmos [why Regal cheaps out and doesn't use Atmos on all it's RPX screens seems completely lazy to me]

When can we expect Best Buy to announce their Steelbook? It's been out for a few weeks now. I know its not as big of a movie as Aquaman, but Best Buy did do a pre-order for Aquaman less than a week after its release.

Paramount is different when it comes to BestBuy Steelbooks, they're no Warner or Disney. We'll probably see something a month before release.

Anyway, just got back from seeing the movie myself and WOW it's so much better than the other Transformers movies. Should look and sound fantastic on UHD too.

Now projected to open to $54-58 million in China. A tiny bit lower than projections which were $60 million, but still good. It's getting really good WOM in China (a 9.2 from audiences on Maoyan) so the film's box office chances look a little better.
