The Top Critics mostly sunk the score on that one. They admired it for swinging for the fences, but several of them complained about the ending, which they saw as both convoluted and corny. However, some Top Critics gave it their highest score and said it was Nolan’s masterpiece. It had a more mixed response than usual for Nolan.

I think the ending is pretty ambitious, but also inevitably polarizing because of it. I think anytime someone tries something different from the norm, it's bound to have strong opinions on both sides of the spectrum.

The whole film is ambitious, and I love it for that reason.

As for the rating of the movie, I'm ok with it. Personally I thought he pushed the boundaries of PG-13 with Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.
I'd like a Nolan horror film but I don't see that happening
I know a while back he was working on a Howard Hughes biopic before Scorsese announced The Aviator. Anyone think he could be resurrecting said project? He's mentioned it happening still being a possibility

Thing is though, Bond 25 and Nolan’s next flick both come out next year, meaning if it’s definitely Daniel Craig’s last Bond, it would be perfect timing for Nolan to come on board and do his own thing with it, with a new actor, for say 2023/4. He said previously that he’s interested, but only when they’re ready for a new take on it again.

Who knows, it could still happen, and not that I think Nolan is god or anything, but knowing that he’s a big Bond fan, it would certainly be exciting to see what he did with it.

I'd love to see Nolan direct a one-off Bond film, set in the 1960s, that reunited him with his erstwhile DP Wally Pfister (possibly in glorious B&W). Perhaps not adapted from a Fleming title but certainly in the spirit and style of Fleming. Tom Hardy and COLD WAR's Joanna Kulig starring, along with roles for former Nolan actors such as Guy Pearce, Cillian Murphy, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Marion Cotillard, Mark Rylance, Gary Oldman and Kenneth Branagh.

Never gonna happen, but a Bond fan can dream, yes?

After falling through space and coming to the other side of the room, it took me a few seconds to realize what was going on, but when I did my mind was blown.
