This. Exactly this. I have heard so many people complain that Tarantino could have told this story in half the time and that's not true... because there is no story. That's what I find so beautiful about it. You're allowed to immerse yourself in this specific time and this specific place by observing the daily routines of these three completely different people who happen to be on very different rungs of the same ladder.

Yeah a bunch of movies show huge price drops, but aren't reflected on Amazon. They appear to have been WM pricematches based on the pricing,. Not sure if I missed them either..Perhaps it went down for a second at WM, and Amazon matched, but then went back up at WM, so Amazon stopped the PM?

You're right - and that's odd. I double-checked my order to make sure it is $5.96, and it is. Did they have it on sale for less than an hour? Was it a mistake?

These are definitely WM Black Friday deals, so not sure if WM actually posted them for that price early, and/or if Amazon simply jumped the gun on matching and realized it quickly.

On the plus side, I can see this getting even lower again and more frequently than 9.99, so I'm sure it'll happen again

I bought the BR for Black Friday and haven't watched it until tonight with my mom and it freezes badly almost a dozen times, a few times with artifacts, at the scene with Cliff at the Spahn Ranch. Haven't seen anything this bad even on my crappy player (Samsung BD-P1590) where Prometheus, Alien, and Caddyshack all had issues halfway through. My other player (Sony BDP-S1500) hasn't had a single playback issue, but just to be safe, there aren't any known issues with this release are there?

No known issues, as far as I know. My copy plays fine. I'm going to be watching it again next week, and will report here if anything has degraded since I purchased it.

My disc would freeze up like that on my old Sony BDP-S360 during the Spahn Ranch scene. It only happened in one spot but always in that spot. I think it was around where the camera passes by the Spahn's Movie Ranch truck. It plays fine on my Sony BDP-S3700.

Can I get some real feedback on the 4k vs Blu if I have an OLED. Seeing lots of complaints on reddit about the 4k being to dark


Attempted to sift through the 4k thread but it's polluted with political bickering, which as vermin of these modern times, I didn't feel like parsing.

As far as the film itself goes, I think it's one of QT's best and I'm overdue for a rewatch.

What is a dark movie? I play movies in the dark rather than with lights on in the room. So I guess all movies seem bright enough to me.

Anyways, I've been reading the novelization of this during my lunch break at work recently and am really enjoying it. It's not drastically different but I do like the additional background stuff, especially the chapter dedicated to how Cliff acquired Brandy. I will say I caught myself laughing out loud in my office the other day at the end of Chapter 11 when Manson waves to Cliff as Cliff just stares at him and something happens in the novel that doesn't happen in the film.

[Show spoiler]Charlie breaks down into one of his "ooga-booga" dances complete with Manson yelled gibberish. When Mr. Manson finishes his spastic dance performance for Cliff, he flips off the a**h**e on the roof. "F**k you Jack!"

Mr. Manson climbs back in the Twinkie truck, starts it up, shoves the broom-like stick shift into gear, and pops and coughs down the hill of Cielo Drive.

Cliff watches him leave then says to himself out loud, "What the f**k was that?"

I love reading this after obviously seeing the movie because I can hear the actors voices and see their expressions in my head as I go along. Looking forward to a rewatch after I'm done reading.

There does seem to be A LOT of unneeded attention to detail that seems to go on and on but it does lead into a lot of pop culture references of radio, movies, and TV at the time that I like see being mentioned. Really liked the chapter where Cliff takes Schwar(z)'s secretary to see I Am Curious...Yellow and exploring his disdain of Hollywood at the time. Good stuff.
