It's the disc they've been using since the 2012 collector's edition and have re-used for the 15-disc set and the steelbook release.

Apparently the master version of the TV cut was destroyed in 2008 Backlot Fire.

I'll definitely be getting II since neither the Universal or Shout! transfers I have are new.

The negatives for those scenes are either long gone or way too costly to dig up.

I wish they would at least add some of the TV cut shots that the original disc missed. It would be nice to put it on a BLu-Ray also but I suspect it wouldn't really help.

They have the master tape for the TV cut. It’s the original negatives that were destroyed in a fire.

Preordered 2-5 since I already have the first one on 4K. I can't wait to watch these again before Halloween Kills comes out!

I hope the stereo on this disc is the original stereo mix and not the duplicated left (or was it right?) channel that was used for the boxset.

They got it right for the Steelbook release. Fingers crossed.

On the extras front there have been a lot of interesting behind the scenes images over the years, and new ones are continuing to be uploaded online. Some kind of new add on to the previous photo gallery would really be fun.

Dennis Tracy doing the slate for the very first shot of Halloween II, on 6th April 1981.

I'm hoping that this "H1-H5" batch is just the start and maybe later this year, or next year, they'll release H6 & H20 in 4K as well. (I don't much care for HR and the RZ ones so I don't need them in 4K). But if I can get H1-H20 in 4K that would be great.

And then the eventual 4K steelbooks. And then the eventual 45th Anniversary release. And then the eventual 8K release. And then the eventual.....

Halloween II diehards, give it to me straight, do I need Halloween II? Don't get me wrong, I've seen it twice but it's been awhile and it was the DVD days, and my honest opinion was it felt forced and awkward, but I did appreciate the ending and how it paired nice with the first movie. I didn't outright call it garbage, like say Halloween 5, but I remember thinking 4 was just way better and I definitely wrote it off back in the day. I'm kind of wondering if the fresh scan and the new Atmos might give the film a new light for me. I have 1 and 3 preordered, but now II is singing to me.

I love Halloween II. That was actually the first Halloween film I saw and it’s my favorite Halloween sequel.

I enjoy part II but 4 is my favorite of the sequels. 4 really needed a remaster so thats the one I’m looking forward to the most.

From the illustrations, it kinda looks like the upcoming Halloween 4K movies have cardboard surrounds, with the actual blu ray cases being inside. Would anybody know this?

Yes, they're housed in slipboxes.

It's probably in the bottom half of the series for me, but it's still a fine film. A bit boring at times, and you can tell that John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Jamie Lee Curtis didn't really have their heart in it, but I dig the creepy hospital atmosphere.
