Too bad the soundtrack is only on CD when Apple Music has it in either 24/48 Hi-Res Audio or in lossy 16/48 Dolby Atmos. And it doesn't include The Dune Sketchbook. CD's 16/44.1 just isn't as impressive as either of Apple Music's highest quality options.
I would've really loved it if it was a Music Blu-ray with the soundtrack and The Dune Sketchbook in one disc with both LPCM 2.0 24/48 and Dolby TrueHD Atmos 24/48. And Apple Music Dolby Atmos does sound really impressive even if it is lossy Dolby Digital Plus.

I saw this in a Kinepolis theater in Laser Ultra. Looked incredible, dolby atmos sound was amazing too. Can't wait to see this in 4K at home

I assume watching it on a big screen in the cinema also has it's benefits? Sounds like this is a movie made for that.

For those getting the French steelbook, beware... Non-4k discs from Warner Bros tend to have DD+ Atmos for the english audiotrack instead of TrueHD Atmos

Any risk Dune 2021 will be Hobbitizzzzed, meaning stretched out too long for the underlying story material? Or is there sufficient substance in the book for two 2.5h movies?

We can tell you didn't read the book. A screenplay that decently covered all the points of the books narrative (i.e no appendixes) would be a 12+ hour movie.

(for the record: IMO movies and miniseries are totally different genres than a novel and I am not one who expects "100% faithfulness" to the book in a film. The film has to get the basic message of the novel, but has to do it in the language of cinema)

Watched this in IMAX 3D - oh, what a treat! It will be a great additon to my collection when it hits the UHD. Fingers crossed they'll make enough money to greenlight Part 2...

I remember BR2049 hitting theaters around the same time of year that Dune is now and the BR for that was out in January the following year. Fingers crossed that with the new circumstances surrounding the pandemic and the HBO simultaneous release that this will be out on disc by Christmas.
