The internet is both good and bad at the same time.
Thanks Farerb. I was wondering what the budget was. $250, that is hefty. They need to find ways to lower these budgets... I heard a film needs to make 3 times as much as the budget in box office amounts total, to have a nice profit. If the box office only doubles the budget, then it would break even. |

A blockbuster usually had an ad campaign that costs $150m minimum. Add this to the budget, double it, and that's a rough indicator of the break-even point.

My ranking: Thor 3 Ragnarok Thor 1 Thor 2 Thor 4 Hemsworth's whole career honestly centers on Thor, so I can imagine he hopes to leave the character behind eventually and see if he can move on without Thor. |

$7 for a Disney Marvel blu ray of Thor 4 Love & Thunder blu ray for the Thanksgiving Sales week. That's tempting of a price. $10 I can say, no thanks, but $7... That price will not last long I bet.
A 3/5 movie. $7... Some funny scenes, and the end battle was very good IMO. I like Thor, but feel this film is a bit too over the top into the parody realm for him. It's kind of an entertaining movie despite its flaws. |

I watched this movie last weekend. I really enjoyed every Movie of Phase 4 so far, but my expectations of this movie were very low, because Part 3 of Thor was very bad (Yeah I know, I am probably the only one here who thinks that way) but oh man Thor Part 4 sucked.
I hate these unfunny comedy. They tried to use a joke almost every 10 Seconds but non of them worked, they were just silly and stupid. I liked Christian Bale in his role. He hasn't much screentime, but he steals the show. He is serious and intense but in that moment when there was an stupid unfunny joke again I was like: Why did they want to destroy this really good Scene with a bad joke, why? But the CGI was good and of course the Soundtrack, well a best of Guns N'Roses is always good ![]() |

Exactly my ranking as well, although it's REALLY hard to rate 2 and 4, because they were both awful.

Finally saw this Thor 4 film a second time, this time at home instead of the theater.
I'll still keep it at 3/5, but I liked the whole motive of the Christian Bale Gor character, who was the main villain. They did a really good job with that and made it clear from the very opening scenes. He lost his daughter in the desert, and went to his local god to find answers, only to be discarded. In that moment, he uses the power of the defeated warrior's spirit on the ground nearby, to embue the sword with the Soul Reaver, to destroy this garden god that was supposed to help him as a loyal servant. Then he goes on to destroy all the arrogant gods in his hateful quest to not deal with his sense of loss over his daughter. That at least has a lot more depth than what we got with Ant-Man 3's Kang, who was mostly just trying to escape so he could destroy everything, but why? That film should've answered his clear motive but I wasn't convinced it was very meaningful beyond hate and revenge as he spoke about power. The final battle was nicely done too in this film. Thor giving up his wish and not fighting Gor for the Eternal Wish seemed a bit odd. It's like Thor just gave up and let Gor take over. I would've expected Thor to wish to keep Jane alive. But he gave his wish to the villain, Gor. I don't quite understand why, other than maybe he knew Gor's daughter was just a kid, while Jane Foster was already a 30 year old woman. Trivia, the daughter of Gor is actually Chris Hemsworth's daughter in real life. I think the main weakness of the film is that it's not much of an adventure like Ragnarok was, but a more isolated film with very few locations. They did a decent job with Jane Foster's story too, though I probably would like the film trimmed down by 10 minutes in some areas that kind of drag the film down a bit in pacing, and felt a bit unnecessary. The director commentary was mostly his goal of trying to make jokes about things more than details about the making of process, so I only got halfway through with that and then shut it off. |
