And yes, the manufacturing cost of BDs is cheap, certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than a 4K for example. And at 25€, which is only 2-3€ less expensive than one of their 4K releases (which do include the BD, might I add), they bloody well should have it.
Totally disagree. Anyone buying these releases will be buying them for the 3-D. Throwing in a 2-D disc would be a waste of money, and it adds up.

But I actually don't think you are seeing the cost of adding a 2D disc to this edition. As these new 3D discs have several european languages, the 2D discs would have to be mastered and authored to include the same languages. If you go and check the german editions in 2D of Dominion and Minions 2, they don't have spanish or italian. So Turbine would have to spend time and money authoring a new disc that already has a comparable edition out there. Not to mention the cost of manufacturing said discs and very possible the added cost of licensing the 2D version to be included. So no, this added cost you mention is not peanuts at all.
I must say that with the panorama regarding 3D releases, posts like yours complaining about a 3D edition, that pretty much looks to be perfect since it had 3d picture and 3d sound in the original language, simply because it does not include the 2D disc is disappointing.
Bingo. Unbelievable that people would be complaining about the absence of a 2-D disc in these releases

Actually, what am I saying — it’s totally believable, sadly.

To be fair, I can see both sides of the argument. I already have the RSM releases but if I didn't, I would want the extended cut of Jurassic World Dominion included.

Of course, I imagine that anyone who wants that will most likely own it already, as while I am strict about my "No 3D = NO SALE" philosophy, many forum members here prefer a "4K day 1" approach and are more than happy to buy flat versions of 3D films in that format.

I was very happy with the RSM editions so double-dipped on the Turbine set purely to support future releases, I hope they keep coming.

As a wish list of course I will buy EVERY unreleased 3D title they release but there is a good argument for looking at previously released titles too.

Who would buy the Detective Dee films if Turbine could re-release them with English subs? Everyone here. How about Darker Than Night? I love that film, the current German release of course has no English subs, I would rebuy it in a second if it did.

Back to unreleased titles, if somehow Turbine could get RRR or any of the recent Indian 3D wave, with English subtitles included I would actually be prepared to fight people to get my hands on those...

And just to add a little something more, let's address the hypothetical 3D release of No Time To Die. That movie, and due to its length, was released as a two disc edition on blu-ray, so the question (hypothetical) now comes to how many discs should Turbine release in their 3D edition of said movie? If they include just the 2D movie, people are still gonna complain about not having the disc extras and how it would have cost them peanuts to have that third disc. But what about all these costs piled up? They'll have to pass them down to us as the consumer, so instead of having an edition that gets released for 25€, we are now having to pay allot more for an edition that is not what we actually wanted. If you want the 2D edition of a certain movie they are releasing, it has been out for a while and you can get it cheap. And if you never got it, because what you were really interested was the 3D movie on blu-ray, Turbine has an edition just for you.
Lets face it, you either already own whatever movie they are releasing because, even tough it didn't come with a 3D disc, you liked the movie enough to get it and own as a flat edition, or you never bought it because you really wanted that 3D disc. No one that wanted these movies was waiting for possible 3D edition that came with all these extra discs.
No, Turbine said they were releasing 3D editions of movies and that is what their doing.
And I, for one, am putting my money where my mouth is.

Bingo again. If you really wanted it in 2-D, you already have it. There is absolutely zero reason for Turbine to include a 2-D disc in their 3-D releases. Reducing unnecessary 2-D costs means more money to spend on licensing 3-D movies for release.

Here’s hoping they can work miracles and get the Detective Dee films and the Indian films.

Hehehe, yes I agree. NO ONE will give a **** about a 2d disc missing in these releases, which are clearly geared towards 3D fans/collectors. To even post such a comment on these forums.. LOL!

Its undeniable that the Turbine releases looks much nicer than the RSM ones.

Do these still have a 2D option on the disc even though the 2D disc is not included? The Random Space discs I think all had 2D option on the 3D disc.

If you look two posts up, rafunzel states at the end "2D playback (with Panasonic Player) works.

"
So you would have to turn off 3D in your player setup menu to play the movies in 2D. I'll be testing this with my players when I get my discs in.

Just to clarify, on Panasonic 3D Blu-ray players, there's a setting to have the player prompt whether to play a 3D Blu-ray in 2D or 3D mode whenever you put in a 3D disc:

Image taken from the 21:45 mark on this video:

For other brand/model Blu-ray players, you may have to disable 3D playback completely for the player to default to 2D playback.

Can those of you that have received the discs share any info on bitrates, disc size etc? Interested in seeing whether these are better encoded than the RSM ones.

I got my three Collector Series 3D Blu-rays today, all in perfect condition.

The other two movies in my order unfortunately had some damage (it's the first time I have ever received a broken Mediabook) but Turbine's customer service has always been very good so no worries there.

I am really looking forward to the expansion of the Collector Series, any previously unreleased titles will sell much more I am sure.

It was posted on the 3D Blu-ray Fans Unite FB page that Turbine has announced that they have sold out of their first batch of 3-D titles, and that they will restock on June 20th. Someone posted on that thread that they weren’t going to get excited until Turbine releases something new, and Phil Friederichs of Turbine posted “Challenge accepted!” in response. Sounds like good news to me!

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is my #1 hope and lets not forget Alpha (2018). Love that movie and have been wishing for the 3D release since I first saw it. Beautiful story for dog lovers
