This film was shot in high heat and humidity, in quite a hurry and probably constantly shifting conditions, there must be issues.

lol there is a story Herzog tells IIRC he had to check in the original negative, the only copy of the film on a flight out of Peru, and it didn't arrive at its destination. Big ruckus between him and the airline, they were no help. Finally Herzog's brother Lucki broke into the grounds of the airport in Peru and found it in a trash heap or something where it had been baking in the sun for multiple days. It's kind of a miracle this film survives at all (let alone looking as wonderful as I think it does even on the old blu-rays).
