Anyone have any trouble with the digital copy on this? FunimationDigitalCopy doesn't recognize it. MoviesAnywhere doesn't recognize it. Vudu only offers it as English dub.

So what was the overall consensus on this release? Is the video any better than the old 2009 UK release? Were the subtitles at least fixed?

There is no subtitle menu and for some insane reason subtitles are locked out so you can't turn them off with the sub button either. Insanity.

That aside... this was okay. Pales in comparison to the original and I dislike the CG/drawn combo personally, but it was still super pretty. Story was okay. Action was pretty good here and there. I wasn't a fan of the future world looking more warm and industrial but it still was super neat. Wouldn't call myself an anime fan or anything but these ones that are right in my taste wheelhouse are fun.
Hi, sorry for bothering after four years but - is this "forced subtitles" burnt/encoded onto the frame, or still an regular subtitle track which was hidden/locked?

UPDATED: Never mind, I've found its BDinfo, it's a 3-kb hidden subtitle track.

Does anyone know which translation the Funimation Blu-ray and the Disney UHD uses? I noticed both had different subs. Which one is more accurate?

Original: Why are we using badly compressed JPEG images to judge the PQ of video (Dailyan)? Both look undesirable, but I'd imagine lesser so for JP.

Edited: Revisited, and now see the overhead.

I saw the new 4K restoration on Sunday. It was jaw-dropping! It looked like a brand new movie! After the credits is a making of documentary from 2004.
