even being great on defense doesnt mean you wont give up long drives. pointless to have one drive a half.

10 minutes will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. 6-7 minutes should be fine. With 10 minutes you're gonna have some outrageous scores.

Running down the clock in the 4th = real football!

Going on it every 4th down....... Not so much.

Lets make it as sim as possible. If you're off by a yard or 2, coaches option obviously. Going for it on a 4th and 7, not real football. Unless you're passing up a field goal or something. Lets keep it sim.

why is everyone worried about people going for it on 4th down? are you guys afriad that after playing good d for 3 downs the guy might make the 1st down? im not saying its a smart decision but its just that a decision that every coach has to make( even though its a pretty obvious one). me personally won't go for it if its 3 yards or more but if the other players wants to try it why not? a lot of my friends who play madden have a No PUNT rule and im not going to lie I do get a little nervous becuase there a chance they can make it after all it is a video game...if I play good D and stop them i get better field position which is after all my goal.. don't worry about how others play the game just worry how you are going to stop them if they do try a 4th down attemp..

A lot of people playing 08 just went for it every time and with the WR/TE jumps 15 feet in the air money catch the 4th down conversion rate would be about 90% (in my exp anyway) . . . these are also the same people who would kick onside every kickoff. As long as everybody agrees to keep it as 'sim' as possible, should be no problems.

if I recall correctly, you get 45 seconds to run a play. in a 5-6 min game, that about 6-8 plays. 1 drive can take as many as 10-12 plays, so you can pretty much take the whole 2nd half on 1 drive. Not very fun.

I don't care either way as long as everyone agrees to it one way or the the other.

I think 6 or 7 would be cool. Playing 5 mins. is usually 1 hour when I play and that's rushing it. By that I mean hurrying the guys to the line AFTER they come out the huddle and not trying to run down the clock, doing audibles, etc.

Yeah, in real life they do, but in the game I never have. Usually on a normal play I'll hike the ball in the 20-30 second range.

lol so true. if someone is up at the half and gets the ball to start the second half you may never get a chance to run a play on offense.

never played anyone who does this. but that's what defense is for. to stop them from getting "up" in the first place. also there's 3 times outs.

I think the 6-7min range would be fair......Should allow enough time and wont be sitting there all afternoon playing 1 game....As stated above that's exactly why everyone is talking about the 4th down stuff....Your D stops them 3 times in a row and it is 4th in 10+ and they hurl it up the field and the WR jumps 15 feet in the air with 3 defenders around him to make the 1st down it gets extremely annoying........

i agree but i say more that 3 yards punt under 3 - users choice. if i'm not moving on their d but maybe like 1 yard every down and it's 4th and 3 i'll probably punt if i'm on the opposite side of the field.

That sounds fair enough to me.....only thing i'd add is if the team is down in the 4th that they can go for it at their discretion
