Everybody starts small. With me, it was frightening to finally notice I'm suddenly at 140 BDs. I need to shoot some pictures soon.

Jeez I cant believe how many BDs that some people here own. I've been on board with BD for 3 years and I only own like 40.

I could afford much more than that, it's just that I really only buy the best BDs. Anything with even remotely average PQ is either netflix'd or bought on DVD for $9.

I guess I just try to buy the ones I REALLY love and will watch many times, the rest just isnt worth it.

Yeah, I know. What's scary is that I've been on board with BD for only 11 months and already have 43 titles. The way I'm going, it looks like my BD collection will end up beling like Chaotic's in a few years.

Sounds like it. I guess the netflix thing is the reason I dont buy many. For example I just netflixed the informant and new moon. Very glad I didnt go spending $40-60 on those 2 movies. I got to see them, didnt love either, send them right back, 2 more movies I wont buy. This just keeps going on and I only end up buying the ones I really love, stuff like no country, the prestige, batman begins, movies I can watch a handful of times.

90% of all bd's out there I wont watch more than once.

I cancelled my Netflix subscription a few years ago. I got tired of receiving cracked/damaged BDs and am tired of waiting for my next rental. I only got the “one-at-a-time” plan. So, I receive a BD, watch it for one day and send it right back. And I wait 3-4 more days for the next movie. Soooo boring. My entire plan consists for 95% waiting and 5% watching. And not to mention that there’s more waiting when I report a damaged/cracked disc, which happens quite frequently. Due to all that, I only end up renting like 3 movies a month, 4 if I’m lucky. Ridiculous!

I’m extremely careful with what I blind buy. I only blind bought a couple in my collection and am happy about it. I read reviews and researched before doing so. And 4 of the movies in my collection came free with my first BD player, which were junk BTW. So that contributed a bit. I would have had less than 40 if I hadn’t gotten those. Most of my movies I got quite cheap. There are like only 2-3 movies I have that I paid a little over $20. The rest I got for less than that. We all grab deals when we see them , which is why we end up with a lot of movies.

178 and counting but I'm probably going to downsize and be even more careful with what I buy this year...and last year was a conservative year for me.

I kinda have that problem with Blockbuster. It takes about 2-3 days to get a movie and we get three at a time. I've gotten about 3 movies that wouldn't play. I'd try them on my computer, PS3 and DVD player (if a DVD) and end up sending them back (which led them to sending me two extra movies on top of the 3) because it happened more than once. Unless it was a mistake.

Luckily I signed up for the free trial of Netflix and found out that I had a faculty very close to where I live. So once I send it back, I usually get it the next day or the day after that. Obviously depending on what time I send it out. I recently just changed my plan to two movies. Hopefully I won't have the same problem that I had with GameFly and never get anything after a while.

I blind buy when I really wanna see a movie but don't feel like waiting to get it from BB or Netflix. Although I haven't watched them yet, at least I have them there for when I do want to. If I don't like them then I'll sell them on eBay.

I'm with you on that. For a long time my collection was pretty small, but it's grown a bit over the last few months.

I think I own about 60-70 BDs now, and about 150 DVDs. I'm tempted to just sell off 50-60% of my DVDs (although I imagine I can only get about a 25 cents for each one ), and maybe even a few of the BDs.

Just to watch my collection in a year, would require watching 4-5 movies per week... and I have a tiny collection compared to a lot of people on this site. I only watch a couple movies per week, and in general I opt for movies I haven't seen yet (through TCM, HBO, Showtime, Netflix, etc).

I think owning movies is some sort of obsession for people, or some form of collecting, but for actually watching movies it's not very practical. Or at least an expensive way to go about it.

Post it anyway I first posted my collection (not on this site) when there were about 8 movies in there.

I'll have to post before and after pics later.

Why do people think that though? My friends think the same way and that's why they keep nagging at me that I'm wasting money. I watch my movies all the time. I rarely watch anything on TV. I know it sounds stupid, but when I watch a movie I love, I MUST see it again and again. That's the way I am and that's why I buy movies. When I rent a movie and like it, it breaks my heart to have to return it because I know I'll want to watch it again someday.
