Alright, alright... everybody gets alpha-male credit for getting the last word in on a long-dead argument. Can we just focus on the present instead of continuing to slip the same subtle jabs into every post?

Thanks guys!

All's well that ends well.

So it's easy to see how a professional reviewer can miss an audio or video issue from time to time.

Keep in mind we're not all-seeing, all-hearing machines. There's no need to look too far into the oversight or to put quotes around the word professional

Besides, the great thing about these boards and threads is that they serve as a nice checks-and-balance system for any review or reviewer. I would have missed the fact that 'The Da Vinci Code' transfer was supposed to be soft had a helpful handful of readers not brought it to my attention through a message board thread. The key is that we update any inaccuracies in a review and handle any oversight to our best ability.

Anyway, thanks as always for posting! Let's just keep this thread focused on the audio issue and try to avoid insinuating anyone isn't doing their best to accurately review a disc.
I wasn't insinuating anything, just rather suggesting this must be very slight and almost unnoticeable to not to be picked up in a couple of reviews.

No worries, we understand

Just cause I love clarity, let me make sure this is clear: criticism is great and we welcome it! It's what keeps us on our toes and pushes us to be better writers, researchers, and reviewers. We just want to make sure that criticism is constructive and doesn't drift into attacks on a person's character or work ethic. We're bound to have spats and what not, but it's always nice to bury the proverbial hatchet and work together (as readers and reviewers) to give visitors and regulars at Blu-ray.com our very best.

Remember all the fun at HDD every time some person disagreed with a reviewer's opinion on the movie itself?

I agree with Ken and Pro-b on the issue. You can make a criticism without calling a reviewer's character into question. Arguments will happen - especially if it's a subject you're passionate about - but if you want a criticism to be thoughtfully taken into consideration by a reviewer or staff member, use some tact.

On that note, I will tactfully hold onto my HD DVD until the blu-ray with a fixed soundtrack makes its way onto shelves.

The HD DVD copy is fine. I do intend to trade up to the Blu-Ray assuming it is a lateral change in SQ/PQ or an upgrade would be nice as well.

It would be nice when this comes out if we can do a poll or something to figure out if its only certain discs or certain players.

It's not coming out in its current form...and it's not certain discs on certain players.

Major versus minor. I haven't posted since the first page of the OP choosing to wait it out and see how the release would be handled in the first place.

I wasn't planning to buy it without renting first when the problem was brought forth. BUT that is easier to do for some folks versus others and let us remember that for future consideration when problems are reported and folks are trying to figure out if something is major or minor before purchasing!

BDs simply may not be that easy to rent for some and I personally would not recommend a blind purchase when an issue is brought forth on a BD. These aren't cheap to begin with.

Hi all, thanks for your patience. The 'Inside Man' review has been updated. A blurb has been added at the top of the review (in red text no less), the audio score has been temporarily changed to N/A until Universal announces what they plan to do about the disc, and the audio text has been updated with the latest information.

Hopefully, this helps new members and visitors avoid any confusion and gives everyone the proper information they need to make an informed decision. Thanks again for your posts, help, and patience. As this goes to show, we truly value your efforts and opinions.

Guess it's not so minor after all, eh?
Thanks!

Well... I still hate you.

(I'm kidding! ) Glad to see that this is being identified by Universal as an issue. I'd rather personally see a delayed street date than a flawed disc come out. To me, that shows a commitment to quality. I'll happily wait in that sort of situation.

I'll assume there was no distribution of product to date negating cause for concern to the buyer if they are getting the right one or not. Hopefully that is the case.

We full well know folks have some resources to get releases early so be careful with this one. Unfortunately, not every BD buyer reads forums but I'm hoping for any issue to be minimal if there is one at all.

Thanks guys!
I'm sure the wait for this one will be worthwhile. You reviewed the HD DVD on HDD back when and I have seen this movie on that format and was impressed regardless that my friend's display is 720p that I watched it on. I don't know why I didn't buy it to tell the truth.

I most definitely would want at least equal quality with the HD DVD! Listening utilizing the TrueHD track on the HD DVD was great from what I remember.
